Not to mention that 10.2 is quite an improvement, and the machines now use DDR 333 (PC27000) rather than PC133. I am willing to bet on a fairly significant difference.
Because like it or not most people that use Linux (even sometimes) are usually technical enough to guess on a question like that. Common sense would tell someone that the "default" setting is probably somewhere around medium. To me at least, this seems like a very simple step. I am about 95% sure that my grandmother who uses AOL could handle it.
We're a lot more likely to make PAGE_SIZE bigger, and generally praying that AMD's x86-64 succeeds in the market, forcing Intel to make Yamhill their standard platform. At which point we _could_ make things truly 64 bits
I would have to look, but think there are only 3 settings (low/med/high) the highest is recommended if the system is being used a server, leaving only 2 other choices for someone wanting to try it out a desktop, either of which will work. More detailed information on what exactly is being changed would be useful at that point in the install, but it would also make it more cryptic for the newbie when power users can check the FM after install and update the setting form Mandrake's control center.
I don't want semi-transparent, gigantic pulsating buttons to work with, I want simple, flat and slightly tinted buttons
Exactly!
I think the rounded GUI of windows XP was a step back from 2k pro
I don't like the way KDE and Gnome's defaut themes try to make things round, and I probably wouldn't like it in OSX, either. My idea of a UI is KDE's "Light style 3rd revision" flat, clean, fast, productive, and professional. The flat boxy UI is one of the things I like most about UNIX, it gives it an identity of it's own. It's a shame so many are trying to kill it.
I would say installing Mandrake is easier than installing windows, but I would also say that installing an entire distro is WAY easier than some of the Linux apps. Now if only we had a better packaging system.
AND, you can get dual boot Apple OSX/YDL systems from Terra Soft for the same price Apple is selling them. I hope some more x86 vendors take Mandrake up on their $25 OEM deal. There is a market out there for winidows free products or MS would not have had to tell Dell to quit selling them.
You can get a window but not natively, instead there is an LCD display that communicates with a server named X11. Not quite the real deal, but at least you can look out the other windows without leaving your seat.
Martians are humans that move to mars end evolve to the conditions there, then later travel back in time to make crop circles and anal probe the unsuspecting folks from Iowa.
I would rather read from a book than an LCD. There is something about a 900 page ebook that just does not appeal to me. Writing on the other hand, is something I have not done with a pen in ages. Math/Physics notes are still difficult to take with a keyboard though.
Yes, but why even bother attacking a project like Mozilla?

Let's ask Google
appz = about 455,000 results
apps = about 2,030,000 results
=)

Sun had a poll on their website asking users what platform they were using Solaris on, 65% of them said x86. Theinquirer pointed it out
How do you have a story about a nearly fluorescent 5-7 foot worm and not include a picture? Maybe it should also be A.K.A. vapoworm(tm)

Now what percentage of petroleum is imported from those nations?

That is not the only grammical mistake in the letter.
You can pick up an A04 (DVD-R) for $300 at newegg, that's actually not a bad deal.

Actually the Sun Blade 100 workstations start at $995.00.
The new iMacs start at $1,399 and the eMacs start at $1,099.
You don't think that's because we /.'ed the site with negative comments the other day do you?

Yes, this is actually tactful method to reduce STD's, teen pregnancy, and over population. I know I'm in the clear.
