Actually, it _is_ a C program. Only the GUI was ever slow, and that was over 10 years ago. Anyone that calls Java slow today is either ignorant or trolling.
I use Eclipse and its not slow either. Its funny to even call Eclipse slow as it uses native widgets for even faster (but mainly more native looking) operation.
As a parent, i know what kind of obstacles to throw in the way of my child. Im sure 'hacking' these laptops required research and work. What more could you ask for from high school students?
If you use an nforce motherboard under linux, you have to set it to high throughput or low cpu use.
It causes studdering audio and other funky stuff on one of the settings. that was the nforce 1 I believe on RH8 and RH9 perhaps. I have not tested in a long while though. The issue showed up on windows at one point too. It could be poor drivers.
Yes, when they are disabled. Many disabled people use the internet and can have difficulties with these programs as with so many other things in life.
I have XP as well and dont have any viruses or spyware, but my visually impared mother is totally infested:( Its a monthly job for me.
I agree with you on one point. I use firefox and browse with the popup blocker off. If you popup any fucking thing I will never go to that website again.

True. Note that quad cores and 8 cores was planned from the minute 2 cores was. Its really old news unless he is saying the _release_ is comming.
And you dont need to write your program to make use of hyperthreading, just threading. Dual core processors will blow away single core hyperthreaded processors.
My first though was, "I know what Phalus is and its not 'corpse' or 'plant'" And now that I look at the plant itself, I am convince that I have been lied to about the translation of its Latin name!?
Its similar to a nicname I have used on my starships and other things over the years.
Metallic Phalic, Ferrous Phalus, Iron Phalus, etc.
my company has never blocked webmail, but they started to block the email port 20 I believe it is, about 5 years ago. Claimed it was due to viruses, but it was just a coup for more power by the damned IT department. Viruses still come across company email, and I doubt seriously if email viruses spread across company computers through an email system that had no other company addresses.
In any event, I use ssh and VNC and just surf and read email on my Linux box...
Oh please. Like im gonna bite on that. Do some research...
Eclipse and more specifically what is being suggested in this post is not the IDE at all. The IDE is just one part of eclipse and it is unrelated to the Eclipse "RCP."
You kind of answered your own question. The hardware is dirt cheap. Heck those $20 cards are probably made in the same plant. These companies are trying to get the profits from the old days when you had only a few choices. And they are trying to get said profits through software without adding value.
I run Asus because I have over the last 10-15 years found it to be the most stable and overall reliable board. I do not buy them because they overclock or have some bells and whistles I never use.
I simply got tired of putting up with broken stuff. None of my asus boards ever died. I had a dead Abit, and a dead other brand that got replaced. But never Asus.
They cost more, but when your buying for your wife or your mother, you really dont want to be hearing complaints week after week...
Interesting as my firefox stays on 24/7 just like my thunderbird. It does not increase its memory usage either. Its on Linux though and is probably missing some of the famous plugins like macromedia and adobe pdf...
Shes already blind. She would have to learn _how_ to use linux. And no console either. Plus we would need a screen reader package. i have investigated and see that there is an available screen reader but I have not tested it.
If I choose Linux I effectively become the developer and have to learn every single package and help her to use them. I just got no time... While there are packages we have found that work on windows, and that took several years too.
People also use BitTorrent because its FAST. I have no idea why people think its mostly movies and songs going across bittorrent. That makes no sense as bittorrent is not anonymous in the least, and requires a central server.
The companies I see using BitTorrent are software developers. Patch releases, shareware games, movie trailers, all perfectly legal and easily found on bittorrent. Stuff you used to need an account on fileplanet or some such to get.
Blizzard released video demos of WOW on bittorrent, Eve-Online releases patches on Bittorrent. So many uses daily that have nothing to do with copyright infringement.
Exactly what technology do car manufacturers license today? OEMs are notorious for refusing to license anything. Unless this technology is offered license free, it wont be available.
OPEC only wants to up production so they don't piss everyone off and then people look elsewhere for oil. OPEC is not the only producer.
OEMs are building hybrids barely and half-heartidly. Mostly through coops and shared technology. They are not competiting in the electric market as of today.
You can believe what you want to believe. For instance, I believe you beliefs are biased foolishness.
First of all, bittorrent is in NO WAY anonymous. Its very easy for the **AA to know who is hosting these files if your suggesting its **AAs content that is passing across bittorrent. Note that certain torrent servers have indeed been shut down.
Furthermore I have used bittorrent myself and I see who is mainly using it. _Software Developers_
All those companies that over the last 10 years have started to use pay services like fileplanet since they themselves dont want to pay fully for the bandwidth, are now using bittorrent. Most of the files I have downloaded/uploaded over bittorrent have been >300MB.
Yep. And then one car can rebroadcast another car if it likes that 'station.' And if popular enough you can have the whole city rebroadcasting a signal from one person. Kind of how seattlewireless works only with music not internet.
Its comming. It cant be stopped. We will probably have to vote several sets of congresspeople out before it does though...
yep. i was just in the coffe shop thinking i could come back on the weekend with my laptop and give myself a break from home.
Surely they could think of a better solution. Throwing the baby out with the bath water.

The purchase price of software may be 0, but the cost of using software certainly is not. Invest yourself where you are most valuable.
Your argument makes no sense. Dialup users take their address from a pool of available IP addresses at their ISP. When they hang up the address goes back into the pool. Whereas broadband users take their address from the same pool, but keep their addresses for a much longer period of time.
1 dialup user != 1 IP address. 1 IP address is needed per phone line, but in broadband, 1 IP address is needed per user...
My mother is not an ignorant user. She is legally blind. I am sick and tired of cleaning this insidious shit off her computer every 2 week. Yes there is firewall, yes I run spy wear cleaners, yes I have anti-virus installed...
She can't see these things that pop up in small corners at times. Or can't be arsed to read them considering how long it would take her away from something thats already going to take her a while to get done.
MS on the other hand should be ashamed of itself. Crap ass browser letting this crap in. Not only that, THERE IS NO WAY TO DELETE these browser plugins, you can only disable them. WTF is that??
MS has been complicit in this mess. I hope this puts some pressure on them to close the holes. (And not offer a new OS as the patch)
Thats BS. They want to be treated fairly. Its a freedom or death mentality.
Americans working conditions are mandated by the American government still. The WTO should ensure working conditions are equal, then we can see who wants to work or not.

Lol, naieve. Ford/GM are full of _real_ engineers. It matters not. Management will always bring in their own 'cabinet' one way or another.
What you want is GOOD engineers, not XYZ's brother, cousin, golf buddy, etc...

Go ahead, then explain to the shareholders how much of their money you wasted on nothing.
