I (and probably many others) would really appreciate it if you made the coursework or at least part of it (like an outline of what you taught) available in HTML/XML for free. I can certainly understand if you don't want to do this, heck everything can't be free, but I have a lot of friends I want to convert to linux or at least give a penguin show of force B-) from windoze and being a semi-new user myself it's hard to know where to begin.
And to throw in my two tenths of a cent (mine isn't usually worth 2cents) [dunno if this has been touched on yet or what the target audience is]
I'd definitely show them what I consider the handy stuff
[1] the scripts in/etc/rc.d/init.d/ (which I find ohsocool and handy) [2] rpm -Uvh (or urpmi) [3] tar -zvxf [4] xinit/startx (it's 31337 to have 4 wms running at once) [5]top/gtop [6]man and --help (no kidding I was helping someone once and I'm like "type man " and I got the response "oh awesome!!!!!")
I have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon.... I was at the end of my rope when I first got it because the drivers either didn't work or crashed shortly after (windows drivers from ATI out of the box). I found the latest drivers on the net a few weeks later and haven't had a serious problem yet. Linux however (Mandrake 8.0 at that time) had a little trouble at first but when I updated to XFree86 4.1.0 just about all my problems were solved.
In short, I think ATI has very nice hardware but unless you plan to not use it for a month or two when the descent drivers are available-- you're in a world of hurt.
Every day I like *nix/*nux more and M$ less, but I would have given them the undeserved respect not to suspect that they would stoop to the level of bashing (not to be confused with BASH-ing) How low can you go? C'mon!
Does anyone out there (1) have a lot of money (2) want to put it toward *nix/*nux ads?:):)

too many anti's in this whole thing...
Are we talking about laws against copying cd's? or laws against copying copy-protected cd's? Or are we talking about laws to prevent the making of copy-protected cds???
I'm confused:) sorry if previous comment was offtopic
Big hard drive... I like that idea... However I don't have a FireWire interface. I know I could buy a pci card to add it but since I have USB isn't that as good? Also how hard is it to use a removable hard drive in linux? I've heard it's not so bad but I don't know how to do it (though I've never really tried)
I personally am a bit of a morpheus fan though I don't support piracy... NE one know a good MusicCity linux client? I don't really like Gnucleus or gtk-gnutella which are all I've used both of which use only the the gnutella network...
I've been thinking about getting a DVD-ROM drive (and maybe a DVDRW as well) for my pc for a long time. For the purposes of mass digital storage (like backing up many gigs) as well as dvd ripping. What would you guys suggest I do? Wait until the "standards" become standards? How do I know when the right time is?
Though I have had one or two slight issues with pages not working right (they didn't work with konqueror either sorry, had to use mozilla, which I think is a little too fat of a program IMHO) I just love the nice slick interface of galeon mainly having the checks for allowing popups or java/javascript right on the settings menu as well as the option for the lil bar with the text boxes at the top with google, rpmfind, etc etc.
Though despite my GUI addictions I use lynx weekly for various reasons and hold nothing against text browers. BTW I never was 1337 enough to think of using telnet on port 80 thx for the idea;)

Just don't make a complaint about me. B-)
I'm applying at CompUSA this summer (in fact the one in Rosedale, yes roseville, MN, as previously mentioned) and I promise I'll be good though I'll probably be stocking shelves or at the Customer Service desk not at the "good stuff" counter...
I agree. Though I certainly don't want it because I have no use for it, I think it's a great thing if it makes more people interested. I rememeber installing Redmond Linux 1.0 on my 12 year old brother's computer... (I had never used it before but I figured he was a good ginny pig) The installer used "Lizard" (Linux Install Wizard--gee wonder if anybody noticed how close that sounds to wizard;) which was a very very windozey installer, but it was very easy and fast (only thing that turned me off is that I didn't see a place to select packages anywhere). I hope people keep trying to make linux appeal to the common folk (as long as it's still free). Well that's my two bits ne way.
...always safe to trust a penguin... no offense "other guy" but I hate er "strongly dislike" it when ppl bash things I support especially when they just yell rather than supporting their views with facts.
hey would some of the nice/.ers mind bringing me up to speed on what all the mods mean like troll:) I'm new go easy, but I'm not the ordinary microsloth dope either, I'm running linux and I actually understand a good portion of it now.
- Forgive me, I'm just trying to force myself to post for once instead of just reading all the stories.
This should get you there
Where can I get it? Didn't see it at amazon...

So does this mean the Samba group's in trouble?
This doesn't seem like it's gonna stop anyone... but if it did that would really suck.
... d00d I totally agree...

Hey we only get one day, may as well enjoy it...
I'm ROTFL here
Clarification. Linux is a *nix in my book, but I put them all in the same boat. (FreeBSD, Linux, UNIX)

...if you can read the data (i.e. listen to music or install programs) there's a way to copy it....
There's always a way...

Should I wait for this fabled 28G on one disc?
