it's a known issue that the intel x86 platform is vulnerable to stack-based buffer overflow exploits. the amd64 architecture is addressing this by providing hardware page protection which prevents code from being illegally executed off the stack. netbsd has enabled this feature by default in netbsd 2.0. i look at the x86 platform like training wheels and amd64 like a nice racing bike...;-)
Skype is doing phenominal. They are doing so well, in fact, that their competitors are exercising unfair business practices to deny Skype business. In one of my blog posts I wrote about how Telmex Blocks VoIP Traffic and Skype.com Web Traffic, and it should also be noted that teh United Arab Emirates is blocking Skype.com as well. I suppose these people are pissed that Skype is offering a service for free which they were hoping to charge customers for.. It's true that Skype is changing the way people communicate and traditional phone service providers are going to have a difficult time competing unless they keep up with the times. =)
what this tells me is microsoft will rip people off if the country generally accepts being ripped off. only in other locales, where people actually realize that microsoft products are overpriced, will they compensate for this and readjust their pricing. does microsoft HAVE to sell XP Pro for 250US ++? no.. but they can, because most consumers are stupid and lazy, so they do..
personally, i think this sends the right message. if you're a complete idiot you don't deserve an internet connection, especially when other people have to suffer because of your idiocy.
I wouldn't call this a loophole. ICANN is in the business of generating revenue. If they stop these guys from letting them register domains then they're just stepping on their own airhose.
Would someone do me a favor and tell me why this is newsworthy? Alright so Microsoft announces eight security fixes. Fantastic. They've announced five thousand before this, and they're gonna release five thousand more. Do yourself a favor and setup your box for auto-update, install a good AV program, use Firefox instead of IE and make sure you're running XP SP2, and just consider yourself relatively safe. It's a windows desktop for christ's sake. Who cares if it gets owned. You're an idiot if you have anything important on there in the first place.;-)
Zen Linux is a particularly easy way to create your own custom livecd, the remastering process is incredibly simple, and it's 100% debian compatible. Give it a shot I think you will like it;-)

nice, this is positive but i'd rather see Zen Linux being used instead of ubuntu.

i don't know what your problem is, but GPDF
yes if someone would like to start a torrent that would be great ;-)
my bad!

I'm working on a Zen Linux remaster dubbed "Hindu Linux" complete with polytheistic wallpaper, it should be ready in about a week ;-)
The zen utility is a very simple command-line tool that allows you to configure wifi. I don't think a GUI is really necessary ;-)
Zen Linux HD install is the quickest way to get a fully functional Debian system up and running I've found...
try zen linux, then apt-get install wine.
Since hamar.sk is getting slammed by slashdotters, I setup a quick download mirror of The Sphere XP on subterrain.net.
GNU Make is so cool I use it to rip DVDs!@#$%^&
I would say NetBSD 2.0. I have been running it for a while on some production systems and desktops and it is indeed very stable.
All I have to say is it's about time.
Just in case this site gets slashdotted, I setup a quick mirror of the research paper: DSTbreak.pdf
