    I'm sure the NCBI, EBI and other genomics institues could use some of this for genome, gene expression and variation data and such...

    "superior picture quality"? Excuse me? An LCD reliably displays the rectangualar picture as a rectangle
    Unless LCD's have gotten better, they are not very good at rendering all the intensities in an image as well as a CRT. LCD's are OK for very high-contrast gui applications, such as editing black text on a white background, but don't bring out subtle tones/features. If LCD's have gotten better at this, I'd be interested to hear!

    Seriously, I'll bet most pharmas will absorb the modest cost of this -- the savings on management of inventory and expired stock will pay for this many times over.

    No, it's their requirement to "tell both sides of the story" which is the problem: their editors insist they find someone who disagrees with mainstream science, and they then tend to present both views as "equally valid".
    Another reason science is "mis-reported" is that it's not trusted by many as being another Establishment or Authoritarian source. And this comes up in press that tends to lean towards the left or the right.

    Another problem is that science changes, and it's not hard to find a scientific claim that fits your own. I could quote an authority saying that the Sun revolves around the Earth. Of course, that's not a current theory! Or that AIDS is NOT caused by the HIV virus...

    Could anybody please explain why the big fuss about water/ice on Mars. If they discover some bacteria over there what use will it be? There's lots of bacteria here and nobody gets excited about it.
    Well, where did the bacteria we have here come from? Did God create them? Were they seeded from another planet/source? Did they grow up out of the muck? If we could find another example in our solar system it could help explain alot! And raise more questions too, as usual...

    Even if you could answer the question regarding an intelligent creator (WHICH you can't), it's pointless.
    Also, if we see are not different from the 10,000 things then we are not "superior" or "more evolved". You dog has Buddha nature, and so would a tape worm I suppose. I guess you can say we are differentiated in different ways, here in this differentiated world we live in...

    We can physically be made of the same stuff as all of the other creatures and still be spiritually distinct
    This aspect of Judeo/Christrian religion has always bothered me: why do we think we are so different from other creatures? Why can't my dog hava a soul too? If we take the viewpoint of Eastern religions that all life is god or even that all creation is god then we are not highly evolved, just a little more complex in certain respects...

    At least six hijackers get more than one Florida driver's license. They get the second license simply by filling out change of address forms.

    1. Waleed Alshehri: first license May 4, duplicate May 5.
    2. Marwan Alshehhi: first license, April 12, duplicate in June.
    3. Ziad Jarrah: first license May 2, duplicate July 10.
    4. Ahmed Alhaznawi: first license July 10, duplicate September 7.
    5. Hamza Alghamdi: first license June 27, two duplicates, the second in August.

    This has actually been done before, and anyone can open an account for, as an example, "IsoRectal Spectroscopy" dba "IRS" and cash stolen tax checks.
    Interesting -- I opened a bank account recently for a non profit and had to get a taxpayer id from the IRS first. So maybe they watch out for this sort of thing...
