... I happen to have one of those tablets from HP here in the office (due to development contracts that we had with HP) and would like to be able to make use of it again. However, I'm not willing to bank on it. I mean javascript on the desktop. ouch.
Apple has seen the light. They know that sales will drop now that SJ is gone and people are starting to see that Apple is actually just a the best marketing company ever and so are starting to by products from real innovators. They have also noticed that the people that are able to pay the premium price for Apple marketing (or should that be products?) have also reached it's peak.
Now they have finally found a way to get money from those that 1. Don't want their marketing/product and/or 2. Can't afford it. They now have a way to get money from the unemployed without even having to give them anything in return. Best business model ever.;)
Actually no. the shit in their own backyard. Which according to my father, when I was going up, you just don't do if you have a brain larger than a BB.
Speaking of BBs'. If you shoved the collective brains of all the Canonical Execs up a gnats ass they would look like a BB in a boxcar.
Seriously. I laughed my ass off when they made the Unity joke, alienated 80 - 90 percent of the Gnome users and sent them packing while the KDE users laughed themselves senseless. Well, who's laughing now? LOL. All the Mint users (or users that saw what was coming and bailed on *buntu) because now Canonical just pissed in the cereal bowl of all the KDE users as well.
To be honest. I'm starting to get the feeling somebody at Canonical is wanting to get into Politics. I have ever only seen Politicians make such idiotic and incompetent decisions. Thank god I abandoned ship when I heard about the Unity move.
omg. you live with them don't you? they got you as you were going through the terminal after your flight landed. What's your name I'll try and contact your parents for you so they can come rescue you.
Are you gonna post it on SF? If so I wanna join...
What about a DIY blog on the arm. That could really come in handy. Especially at work in case I ever find myself attempting to explain to anyone in the office anything of a Tech nature ( all are iThing users).
I am seriously questioning how this even got fronted here on/.
Seriously, didn't they even check where the link lead to? I'd bet both my tabletts that it was a iWhatever jockey that posted it and another that frontpaged it.
Here is bit from the original post with links to further info as well as a copy of the transcript (in German):
"It would seem that Apple has to reimbuse Motorola for damages dating back to early 2002. OUCH!!!
Further, according to a story released on Saturday, Motorola has finally made a rather large dent in the Apple offensive. It would seem that, effective immediately, Apple is not allowed to sell any mobile devices in Germany. This is apparently due to two (2) infringements against Motorola wireless patents."
just so you know. Apple must, according to the judgement that I read through, has to pay Moto damages dating back to as early as the beginning of 2002.
And, as some have most assuradely already noted, this ruling is against Apple Inc. which many believe doesn't actually sell anything in Germany. The problem is the German Apple sites are owned directly by Apple Inc. and so the Lawyers are still discussing if they may have to be shutdown or whatever. Still waiting to see.
I don't have a problem with the fact that Apple defends its IP.
I do have a problem with HOW they defend their IP.
Do misunderstand me here. I am NOT an Apple fan. I have a lot of friends that love their iThings and I am happy for them. That said, I wouldn't let them use my computer either. It's a good thing the iThings are available for those not Technically savvy.
But I do want the option to be able to purchase something that is NOT an iThing and also has the ability to allow me to do what "I" want to do, however I want to do it.
Whether patents are good or not is a non-issue. Of course they are good. As long as they are based on common sense. And as the entire world can see this is NOT the case and thus needs to be addressed.
Also think 1 second (if you can) what the mobile phone / smartphone sector looked like BEFORE the iPhone and AFTER the iPhone.
And when did the E70 come out? hmmm. the E75? don't know about you but the only thing that the iphone brought with it was marketing.
I cannot express how much I truely hate this rather limited comment.
Quick question. How many apps are available in the standard Ubuntu repo? How many are valid apps for Gnome? How many do you actually have installed on your box? Do you know them all? By name?
If you only use at most 5 apps then OK. I can see where that actually might make some sense. However, I have over 15 launchers on my taskbar alone. There are about 3 apps I start with Alt-F2 and then rest (which I rarely use) I have either on my desktop or I use the start menu.
that coupled with my 3 monitors and I am happy. I have monitoring and chat/IM on one monitor, coding/terminals on the second and reference/reading on the third and I NEVER switch desktops.
why on EARTH would I want to flip desktops? I have 3 monitors in front of me with everything I need, setup the way I need, and working the way I need. Now (better said. the last time I tried G3 w/ Unity) I had the one desktop with crap multi-monitor support. which means I MUST flip desktops. no thanks.
As an aside. from the 40+ employees at our company only 2 thought Unity was OK. the rest disabled it asap. Now I have to plan a roleout of Mint to get everyone happy.
until the quality of life over age 60 is as good as at age 30 it's completely irrelevant how long over 100 we live.

no. search and replace.

I have to admit. It's one of the few times that the French has impressed me. Respect Mr. Arif.

actually the more interesting part of the deal is that Apple has to pay Moto damages dating back to april 2003. http://www.scribd.com/doc/71622154/11-11-04-Default-Judgment-for-MMI-Against-Apple
... are not even important now. Since Apple has been banned from the market there is no sense in marketing for it.
To be honest, it doesn't even matter if it's true or not. At least not in Germany
... it's not like it matters now what happens with the 4S. At least not in Germany
I'm betting suicide.
How did Sam Kinison put it... "I hope you slide under a gas truck and taste your own blood!!!!!"
yeah. if not then hopefully somebody helped him. ;)

... that at least 1 judge pulled his/her head out of their ass long enough to see what Apple is doing.
.... This is as opposed to, say, accelerating beyond the speed of light, which has been proven to require infinite energy....
not quite true. but he. we're on /. so why split hairs. ;)
still a GPS tracker should have been involved SOMEWHERE in the project. I mean it's not like it's new tech or anything.
