I guess most ignoramous would be under the assumption that having paid $150+ for an OS/software suite, it should just work out of the box.
On the light side, imagine if household hardware worked like this. Oops, chainsaw runs backwards! You idiot you forgot to patch it last month! I guess that is what we have recall's for.:D
Our university has had those for about 6 months now. Pretty cool I'd say, but not perfect, sometimes its difficult to get the pointer quite in the right spots. Great for pointing to things in presentations, not much else. Also, its really easy to hit the clicker by accident when you're holding down the button on the bottom for the gyro thing. Kinda annoying in powerpoints.
However if I remember correctly it works just fine on flat surface like a normal mouse.
Thats my.02
The reason my friend is, that everyone believed Venus was inhabitable around the time the Soviets began exploring it. Their initial lander they sent there got fried because they thought it was only going to be about 80-100 degrees Farenheit on the surface; not 3-5x that.
Open Office is an amazing bundle of software, but I swear, saving in microsoft formats (particularly Word). Looks a bit hairy when you actually open them in MS Word. Same goes for microsoft's powerpoint.
100% would save these troubles. Now there are just going to be a group of peeved employees that have to realign their tabs and spacing if they ever have to use OO Word doc's on word.
Then again, they might have forseen this and aren't going to be using MSWord on that other 20%. It could work.
I took amtrack a few summers ago from Kirkwood, MO to Kansas City, and then from KC to New Mexico. I must say, these trains are rediculously late. For one I was stuck in kansas for hours because another train was left on the tracks, and then later again because we couldn't get around freighter trains. I must say, Kirkwood to KC wasn't all that bad, but seriously. They need to work out a better schedule. These times mean something in this country.
IE6 with flash & java installed, a word processor (abiword, openoffice,ms word), and possibly an email program like thunderbird or outlook express --virus scanner a must!.
If they do music; winamp or musicmatch, or just media player since its already there.
Other than that, possibly something to manipulate photos like Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, or Gimp.
A firewall would be good too if the user is willing to put up with it
To each their own I suppose.
Why do I need to see a thumbnail view of a textfile?
You should check out the dump on the other side of the moon. Who knows how much stuff is back there, with the moonbase and all. :D :D

So, the inspiration for a Matrix themed porno begins...

All that beautiful gator promotional art gone to waste. *sigh*
I dont feel bogged down by it, and I figured its features out in about a minute and a half. I especially like how well it incorporates crossfading.
I'd just ignore Microsoft on this issue. As the competition to Apple, its their job to badmouth anything they produce.
I'm sure Apple is about as guilty as them in making preposterous slams against MS.
Nah, that complaint was ignorant too. Tabs aren't all that necessary although I admit I enjoy them in firebird.
Whatever you do, just don't cross the beam.
Also included in the dial is another clever inscription written in Black speech that translates to:
One Dial to rule them all, One Dial to find them,
One Dial to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Some of us do turn our computers off now and then when we aren't using them. Saves on power... and my ears.
Slow boot time is just one of many other reasons to use winXP over linux for the desktop user
I think there is a historical account of this early on in the Bible...
What kind of society are we in that takes pleasure out of simulating murder?
