    There are rumours that Nvidia will come out with an Nforce chipset for the Hammer, and due to the architecture of it, memory sharing would be no longer possible. So there would be 32 or 64MB RAM on-board, exclusively dedicated to the GPU (BTW it was the same way in the 486 and pentium's day : integrated video parts had their own 1MB of memory on the mainboard)

    I disagree. the GF4MX has the same bandwith savings technologies as the GeForce4 (Z-buffer optimisation, occlusion culling and so). plus you can use dual PC2700 DDR on the Nforce2 versus Nforce1's dual PC2100.

    And there are benches out that show that the nforce2's integrated GPU is two times more powerful than the Nforce1's one.

    simply type "descent -640x480" (or 640x400, 320x400, and... 320x100 bwahahaha) and your problem should be fixed. descent looks really nice in high resolution (and strange in 320x100. that resolution makes it playable on a 486SX) There's also a 3DFX patch that allows you play in 800x600, even on a Voodoo1!

    I found the solution to my problem (and thanks to the moderators for having moded me down) just copy the miniGL driver(3DFXvgl.dll) in the game's directory.

    I've just downloaded it and ran it : it was a slideshow but ran properly. It was obviously doing some software opengl instead of using my great Voodoo2s SLI. I copied the opengl32.dll from c:\windows\system : it won't work either So I took the opengl32.dll from wickedGL. It runs very fast on my celeron 500 w/ voodoo2 SLI, but... I have no GUI at all, no HUD, it seems that the screen shows what's on my left, and I get tons of "hall of mirrors". Has someone experienced that too?

    Same thing in France. Mobile phone numbers begin with 06 (and we've got reserved numbers too : 08 for commercial number phones and ISPs; 1 for emergency numbers - 15, 17, 18 ; 36 for various services - for example the Minitel, a splendid 1200 baud dumb terminal that many millions of French people own) Receiving calls is not charged. I think blocking undesired calls is possible too. The caller's number always appear on your phone's (wireless or not) screen anyway. [but you can protect your identity for free too.] I didn't even imagine received calls were charged in US, a alleged liberal country.

GPU are far more efficient in real-time rendering that render-farms. you'd need a LOT of CPU power to render doom III in software mode. Or even Unreal Tournament in 1600x1200.

    I don't know exactly when that standard was created, 1947 or 1949? I'm a bit young to remember it (it was near 40 years before my birth). But french TV set had a resolution of 819p (better than your poor 720...) Sadly they went back to 625p (theoretical value. it seems to be 576p otherwise) in 1962 for european compatibility (and for color there would have been bandwith problems) but I don't care about HDTV: my 576p has better quality than DVD, with a classic reception (normal antenna, no cable or satellit). NTSC stinks. SECAM (séquentiel à mémoire) is way better. It's funny to see high quality images live from Palestine or Pakistan and blurry bullshit from Washington DC. NTSC looks worse than european VHS.

    Forests emitt as much carbon as they absorb it.
