Citroens are lovely, wish I could afford a C6 (about $100000 incl. taxes here in Norway..) But for some strange reason Citroens are absolutely impossible to sell in the U.S.A, so they haven't even been imported officially since the 70s or something.
I consider myself the "political type," yet I agree that politicians should have as little power as necessary to keep society safe. Especially here in Norway, with it's socialist traditions, most of the politicians should learn to let go of their power and give more power to the individual and the market.
But: unlike most people I don't think politicians are evil assholes, suck-ups or idiots. I think they have mostly good intentions, but often select the wrong solution - not because of evil intentions, but because of short-sightedness, lack of understanding of consequences, wrong priorites, lack of respect for the indidual's right to autonomy and so-on.
Bottom Line: The only way to improve politicians is to become one yourself.
Diesel doesn't necessarily mean lag. But a Turbo almost always will result in lag. And most modern Diesels have low pressure Turbos fitted to make them more powerful and efficient. Actueally here in Europe Turbodiesels is gainging more and more popularity and is getting close to 1/3 of new car sales (number from the top of mye head, but I think it's accurate). The new Common-Rail, Injection Turbo Diesels are very durable, efficient and comfortable. only drawback is higher price because of very complicated mechanics compared to gasoline engines.
OT, but like he points out: "sale of Red Bull, the leading energy drink in Europe, has been restricted to pharmacies in some countries there because of its high caffeine content." Here in Norway they actually outlawed it completely (which can be done because we think are to good for the European Union and it's free trade...) Of course we are used ridicolous legislation regarding to anything remotely stimulating, after all I live in a country which has about the same maximum punishment for possession of larger amounts of cannabis as for murder in the first degree (21 years, (while rape typically gets you 3...))
you should be glad. official languages is a pain in the butt. here in norway we have three, two of which have almost as much in common as american-english and british-english. for some sick reason everybody have to learn to read and write these two in school.
Switzerland is not a member of the EEC. Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein are the remaining members of the EEC.The EEC is an agreement with the EU which gives these countries most of the rights of a full EU membership, except any direct voting rights in the EU system. Switzerland rejected the EEC agreement and have instead used almost ten years to make bilateral agreements with all the EU and EEC countries in order to get mostly the same rights to market access e.t.c as the EEC countries.
You could come here to lovely Norway. We have no extradiction treaty with the US, due to the Norwegian government's view that the US imposes cruel, inhuman and unjust punishments on their criminals. Including killing a lot of innocent "criminals" which suprprisingly often seems to be poor black people who can't afford good lawyers...
almost everyone who has undergone major surgery has been sedated with morphine (more or less exactly the same as heroine), and I don't see people running straight from the hospitals to drug dealers...
I never understood why punk didn't die after the initial "fresh breath." Maybe it was needed in some way, but I'll never forgive punk for killing prog-rock.
Are you sure they can get a search warrant just because you claim to have no TV?? I know they can't here in Norway.. Instead they make you give your name anytime you buy a TV or radio, and a couple of weeks later you've got a bill in the mail.. This has resulted in a widespread practice of making parents/friends/strangers_from_the_street buying TVs for you. Much like beer, actually. I personally think ad-free, government owned TV and radio is great, but it should be financed through the ordinary taxes. Anyway I don't have a TV, so why do I care?
I downloaded slackware on a 28.8 and eventually got it installed on my p75. Getting it to dualboot with win95 using LILO was hell for an inexperienced 17year old like my self. Not to mention getting X to work with a decent resolution. I had never edited a txt config file in my life and It was a nightmare. It all of course ended with my boot process stopping after the first two LILO letters, and I had to reformat and went back to win95. I'm still a little afraid of Linux..
but other electronics work like this in Europe too, I think. At least Hi-Fi equipment

this interesting peculiarity also makes programming machine-translation software EXTRA fun for us scandinavians
...because here in Norway, there's a maximum of 150mg/liter of caffeine. This would probably contain a lot more than that... Or?

well... Elvis didn't write this song. Infact he hardly wrote any material at all. That's all Right Mama is written by Arthur Crudup

actually I consider several of the cars on the list beautiful. In particular the Citroen SM (DS and CX are also very nice..) and the Renault Dauphine (just look at those cool french guys.. The Pacer I consider one of the most interesting US car designs..

what's funny is that they used to make Wellingtons and car tyres... Having the same brand of mobile phone AND rubber boots have got to be cool...
provider locking is still very much in use on gsm phones here in Norway, especially on cheap, subsidised phones that come with pre-paid subsription

..or make you look like the clown you are..
that you risk jail in the USA doing something that probably half of the DVDplayer-owning population here in Norway does once in a while.
