  1. I refuse to buy Sony on Sony to Stop Producing Smaller CRTs · · Score: 4, Insightful

I used to be a Sony customer. I bought a 200-CD changer, a 19" CRT monitor. Now I promised myself to NEVER buy anything from them again.

Why? Because of their stupid anti-piracy politics. They are one of the main RIAA members, one of the main supporters in the lobby that approved DMCA, one of the main supporters of that stupid DVD zone, one of the creators of that stupidest "copy-protected" disks (they can't even be called CD's, according to Philips, that holds the CD patent).

So, even if their products are good, even if I can't find anything better, even it they are the last brand in Earth, I'll boycott Sony.

Will you ? Will you give money to a company that screws its users ? Will you support DMCA and RIAA ?

    >Always freaked me out being asked my address just to buy some solder or something.

I am not paranoid, but I believe it's nothing but a conspiration ruled by the FBI. How it works ? EVERY eletonic equipment you buy, everytime you buy some solder, some wires, any kind of wire, in every store, when you are checking out, they get a machine, usually gun-like, that produces laser beans, and pretend to price scan.

But hey are not. That equipment actually scans your iris, and all your purchase data is beamed to a FBI satellite, and archived in a secret database. You won't remember they scanned your iris, because of its sofisticated Neuralizer (YES, contrary to popular belief, it does exist and can be found here).

Now they associate your recorded purchase with your new purchase. Say you bought some fireworks on July 1st... And some solder and wires now, Dec 25th. You obviously will be suspected of building a bomb, and should be arrested.

They are not asking your address anymore simply because they already have it, on this database, associated with your iris.

Blair and GWB say Iraq has mass destruction weapons. So what ? The US also has. Is US the only country that is allowed to have it ? I guess US will stand against any country that develops weapons and does not say amen to everything the US says. Of course, same rule, different measures. Iraq will be attacked because it's not doing what UN said. But Israel doesn't do it either, and will not be attacked because it's friend to US. I think the whole thing stinks. War stinks.

In systems like mine, with 3 HD's stacked one on top of the other, a cold room would not be enough. Heat dissipation was bad, and the HD's would quickly be too hot for the touch. I did no measurements, just put my hand there and felt. But it should be about 60 C or more.

I noticed that each HD model heats more or less. So I got worried about this, and bought HD Coolers. Huge difference. Now the HD's just get warm, not hot. Maybe it's not necessary when you're running just one HD, but when you have more than one, I think it's really worth it.

You can find HD coolers in lots of places, but I suggest you do a Google search.
