IDEA is an excellent tool...far superior than Netbeans or Eclipse IMHO. I have used all three and found IDEA to be heads above both.
It is much more stable (It caught a JVM bug, reported it to me and offered to restart or adjust itself!), has excellent featueres built right in (no hunting for plugins and having to deal with buggy plugins), has a MUCH shorter learning curve then Eclipse, excellent version control (better then Netbeans 5, Eclipses' has bugs in it) subtle features that you grow to appreciate, excellent merging and version revision, comparison, GUI is highly optimised (very fast on Linux), features actually work (try adding a property to a class with 50 members using the bean pattern interface in NB), has helpful docs, doesnt fall over on huge projects (Netbeans does when using refactoring...grrrrrrr...all that wasted time), has an awesome library of refactoring templates that actually work, manages to do things "just right for you" e.g. build system, and many more.....
The only problem is the $400 price tag.
One bit of advice.....please for the love of Gosling...do not use Eclipse. It is NOT a nice tool, highly confusing, buggy, unstable, and its so called "platform features" are used by about 3 people in the world.
As for NB.....4.1 has the above problems, 5 still to early to say though Matisse is good!
By the time the Indians realise that they can be HP too.....Ms Fiorina will have retired long ago with a nice fat pension (paid in advance) and engagements giving lectures on the pleasures of outsourcing.
Since when would she care about what happened after she left? She can say what the hell she wants, she knows she's safe. If I was someone in middle management in HP I would get start getting worried....
Yes and in keeping with the traditional KDE mode of providing 4 applications where one is required, OO will now become a standard part of the KDE didtribution which knowledgeable user will be able to remove/disable during install (and bad luck if you are a relative newbie, you will still get all the s*&^ libraries and crud needed by OO on your system, unneccessarily).
As for poor aunt Tilly, she will just see more menus than good and end up more confused.....
If she is seven years old buy her a skipping rope and take her to the park.....children should learn to appreciate such things instead of giving wise judgements abbout bsods.
"Moore's law implies a 26% performance gain just by buying new hardware every six months"
What about us poor peopke who live in Africa and can only afford to buy new haedware every 2-3 years?
This one has to be one of the dumbest pot I have seen on/. so far.
If you are stupid enough to trust MS promoted "standards" you deserve to be shafted.
"Yes. So global companies grow globally. Shouldn't India be a little upset that we have most of their software programmers here?"
India isnt afraid becaus they can pump out as many cheap code monkeys out as the world can take. Then they can pump out some more, just as a reserve.
India has a limitless supply of code monkeys. They can be trained in three months to use the latest buzzword:.NET, JAVA, C#, XML, Capuccino, Earl Grey....
He is right in saying that the jobs that require brains will always move towards Western countries...even brilliant and highly trained IIT graduates. Now India should be worried about losing those. They are the ones who can really push the country forward technologically...
Man that is dammned funny. And did you hear theprank call by the same gus to a chinese man demanding his newspaper? Thats funnt too. Also search for burning pussy, I love your wife and other jerky boys stuff.
speaking from my experience, I find the biggest problem is disciplining yourself. During semester time there is always something better to do then assignments and revision and the trick is to stay focused on studies while enjoying yourself as well.
Metrics can help. We learnt about the PSP methodology in a recent unit and man that thing is really good. You keep track of your time and if you can stick to it for a week it gives a good idea of where you are spending you time. After that its a simple exercise in planning your time and keeping track and improving.
Check out the PSP book by H S Watt, it is good stuff.
Although I DO love being a lazy bastard......
I read this book some time ago and its a piece of technobabble crap. I read it half and gave up....I would rather read snowcrash again.
The author introduces all types of sceintific hoo-ha at some point and get egyptiian and atlantis mythology too. And it goes on about shit like gravity wanves an dlight waves and all kinds of particles and ancient languages that people were not able to decipher for 100s of years but gets deciphered in a few hours and all that kind of stuff. Offends my sense of credulity.
OK here goes, straight from the well of memory:
Eddard Start - Lord of Winterfell
Catherine his wife
Robert the king
His wife....errrr....Cercei Lannister?
Lord Tywin Lannister
The Imp
Jaimie Lannister - the Kingslayer
The woman knight...blast!...forgot her name
Arya
Sansa
Jon
The wolf child
Hmmm...you are right...seems hard to remember.
Looks like something David Boies might do.....oh hang on. Isnt he fighting for SCO these days? I swear these lawyes would sell their grandma if there wa ssome publicity and money in it. Dont they have any sort of principles or care how they are going to appear in the community.
You are very wrong my friend.
Just vist any village and ask any ordinary peasant/farmer what he would be willing to do for a slave labour job in a western country....
Just visit any slum in Bombay ( 50 % of the city is a slum) or Calcutt and Delhi and ask them the same question....
Visit any random middle class home and ask what they would give for their children to get out of India...
Visit any IIT and ask the CS students what is their ultimate goal in life ( 80% will answer getting out of India, not working for MS, Infosyss, etc in India).
Ask any Indian student in America, Australia, etc what he is willing to tolerate just in order to get out of his homeland (the answer is desprete home sickness, racism, cultural shock, etc). Just ask them what they would prefer, working as an engineer in India or a cleaner in California. They would choose the latter as they know that this choice would better their lives and more importantly that of their children.
It is extremely difficult to fins people like Dr Kalam in India any more. This guy was the countries premire scientist (that too in arcane things like nuclear/missile) and yet he used to live in one room. He didnt get married and have afamily in order to pursue his single minded goal of dragging India into the missile age.
Try finding a student in the IITs with that kind of attiyude today.
India is a poor country. No one is interested in eradicating poverty. All they care about is getting themselves out. If you are an Indian, I suggets you go out and take acloser look at your country.
Iam glad that the stupid crap abiWord shit isnt available for OSX. Fucking peice of crap I lost count of how many of my docs it has ruined on Linux. I finally wised up and now use kword, that is in case vim and aspell and a2ps isnt enough.
let the shit rot...
I post on forums.gentoo.org and usually have my first reply within an hour. Greap place....search first and you'll almost always come up with something.
Assuming you are using Gentooo....why arent you? (;

I paid the $400.
Can we please include a few opinion pieces about GNOME and OS X and have a real slug fest?

The song of ice and fire is great!!! highly reccommended..go right ahead.
I think the series went downhill from the first book. Its just too much description without any advace in the plot...

Does the sentence "software nstructions for creating multiple images of a program" mean anything??
"Moore's law implies a 26% performance gain just by buying new hardware every six months" What about us poor peopke who live in Africa and can only afford to buy new haedware every 2-3 years?
I will switch to using this service.....when they support it in XMMS or NoAtun. How dare they ignore us Linux users!!!!

"....and the idea that a government official of her level would be so ignorant is an embarrassment." Well this is the american govt. after all.
Right man where the heck are we getting the ebuilds for the stuff. Cant have some other distro have this and not us.
No you dont have to, you can trust them to Microsoft and SCO. Belive me those guys are really trustworthy...

Can anyone please tell me how similar this is to a fresh OpenBSD install, as I am thinking of doing one. Sawan
*cough cough* Gentoo anyone?
