    Dunno, our comp sci classes were pretty low brow, usually, when someone would step away from their computer in class, we'd open a web browser to something dirty like hardcore gay porn, then when they'd return act shocked and horrified as to what he/she was looking at in class.

    You might be able to set up an SMTP server somewhere else (where port 25 out is allowed), and then send it messages from home (encrypted, most likely) using another port.

    Or better yet, instead of using your ISP's SMTP server, use your own.

    My ISP blocks all non-SSL ports but doesn't block the SSL ports.. which is perfect, since I much rather use SSL when sending/receiving emails..

    Agreed, but have you have noticed that Mormons tend to be really nice people? I'm serious. It's like Romney -- no one can really find fault with him except to say his hair is too perfect, that he's just a successful businessman, or that he's Mormon.

    Or it could be that he's a flip flopper and thinks war with iran is a good idea and thinks the iraq war is good and that he thinks gitmo should be doubled.. but yeah, he's a real niiice guy.

    I'd say it's more like a home address. Would you get in trouble for writing down someone's address? Why should an IP address be any more 'personal'? I'd say both are quite impersonal.

    I had something like this happen to me.

    I had registered djneoform.com (my dj name) while signing up for a web host, I later found out that they did not offer transferring services, that way I was trapped using their hosting services. The only way to regain control was to cancel and buy the domain once it was released. I did that, except some domain camper registered it before I could. I had to go 2 years without a website with my official dj name (I used djnfrm.com for that time). The thief offered to sell for $500. I then that I would *never* buy the domain from them, no matter how low the price and that no one else in the world had any interest in that domain since it was my dj name, a name that no one else used. Eventually the camper got the picture and just let it expire.

    Morals of the story:

    A) Never pay extortion fees to domain hostage takers

    B) Never use a web host that wont allow you to transfer your domain to a different service.

    What about the ineptness of all the other countries in the world who never built one at all?

    Reminds me of the days of Space Station Mir.

    I'd hear all the time from the Americans about how Mir was flawed and had tons of problems, but the truth was, it was the first and more importantly, only ever space station.

    It's so easy to attack the pioneers who do things first, especially when you've never done it yourself.

    I believe the constitution is quite clear on the whole 'freedom of the press' type thing. Reporting on any current event, even in bad faith is quite legal.

    This is patent trolling 100%. Fark didn't invent NSFW and could easily try to extort money if they're granted this trademark.

    It's a bad idea since there will certainly be massive abuse. Companies will pop up whose sole purpose it is to vote up their clients links.

    Imagine getting completely bogus results that you weren't looking for all because someone paid enough money to pump up the non-paid links?

    They did, for two reasons, it was a publicity stunt to make them look like they were protecting their users more, but also to try to kill off smaller dating sites that didn't have the means to do such background checks on all its users.

    I thought that too, but they're voices were too similar and so were their faces. Like, on the simpsons you can tell the voice of martin is reused by a lot of child characters, but they're always very different looking kids, that way you don't confuse them. Fry and Lars both looked very similar minus the hair.
