Have had three transmeta powered notebooks in the past but they are mostly too slow. Now have TR2 and it rocks like the TR3. Excellent balance between performance, size and extremely long battery life.
This is the best notebook currently made, other than maybe that $3k xwhatever-o-thiner than a sheet of paper thing sony has now.
Also, the very small Sony's are extremely reliable. They are still made in Japan, the big Sony's are made in China.
Regardless of the point in this case your ideas
are strange.
HA! Can you work for me and GET MY COFFEE BITCH!
Are you Japanese or something, this is how they think. But this here is America and if your boss is widely known to suck, you kill'em.
I live in Alabama as well (but work in NYC and CA) and I do not understand your point of view. I've seen many situations where a superior was a total piece of crap but had friends in high places. Difficult to destroy but yet they MUST BE DESTROYED. Give'em access required to read everyone's mail and let the son of a bitch hang himself, etc and so on. Whatever it takes to make the company better, frauds and slackers must be destroyed and I mean all the way up to the CEO unless the company is public. It is so pleasant
to work in a place with people who do not suck and the only way to create that environment is by ejecting them.
That's the biggest problem with these things a machine that slow is going to be a dog with XP anyway and have a very short lifespan. I've got a U1 and have had many other ultra small Sony PC's and you have to spend a lot of time ripping out all the crap like IE, Outlook, etc to get the performance up, and then if you insist on installing that beast Office, the overall performance takes a huge hit.
" I know if I'm ever in trouble, the last thing I want is a gun. The first thing I want is a cop."
Which will take how long? Depending on where you live 15 to 60 minutes? Maybe more?
"You can carry non-deadly weapons (pepper spray, etc)."
As I understand it you can't have pepper spray in the UK.
Agreed on the physical self defense part, and of course the most
important part, being alert!
If this guy were in the US and not UK I'd suggest he dress like a gun nut and then no mugger would want to mess with him. They are terrified of gun nuts. Also this would give him a lot of pockets for his geek tools. Since he's in the UK, all he can do is stay alert and if somebody kills him for his stuff, tough shit.
Read the article. These muggings are happening in England where you can't have a taser, gun or OC/pepper spray. Which some would say is why the muggings would be a problem in the first place. The first time the news talked up a dead iPod mugger, that'd be the end of it.
I'll get satellite or cable if I ala cart means buying five, ten or 15 hours per month of ANY channel at $1 per hour. Even $5-10 an hour would be Ok with me. I'd even get a Tivo!
There is one. I'm reluctant to post it here but am always interested in feedback and discussion about challenge response. I live in alabama and have developed something I play with that you can see by sending mail to todd@base.techlow.com
The state should have a program by which every year they organize all the parents to do a mass purchase on say, three specs of machines and bid it out to Dell, Gateway and Apple and whoever else wants to play. Then, more kids can have computers at home. AND THE HELL OUT OF THE CLASSROOM WHERE THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY.
This one always pissed me off, if it's such a danger then WHY TRUST people to be capable of turning off their devices. Most people can't manage their devices anyway, they are NOT IN control of their electronics. Not such a biggie now but later on with fuel cell powered ultra wide band gadgets...
That/.er's have great BS filters and reacted properly to this pure crap "news" article. This is clearly a place for higher functioning individuals that have no need to make themselves feel better about the world through projected liberalism. Now everbody, VOTE and beat down the morons that promote this kind of shit for brains
thinking.
Want to see something really ridiculous?? Regardless of what challenge system is used it's hard to get around this one...

"A system and method of filtering junk e-mails. A user is provided with or compiles a list of e-mail addresses or character strings which a user would not wish to receive to produce a first filter. A second filter is provided including names and character strings which the user wishes to receive. Any e-mail addresses or strings contained in the first filter will be automatically eliminated from the user's system"
No doubt. And I'll go one further and say that typing is the ONLY computer skill that high schools should be teaching.

What does "Delta" mean?

to make the battery spark, I was very dissappointed that mythbusters didn't try this.
I think. They deeply secretly want war. It's a circular thing. They are projecting and trying to make themselves feel better in some really sick way.

no like the kind that sells good stuff
A good pharmacy that sells nice drugs and is reliable?

Do the same thing with bandwidth at home.

Her
as other information. Sounds like excellent
technology to me.
I had never thought of using it for growing plants! Now that's an excellent idea. I'd be
very interested in hearing more about that.
