Non-anime, but animated and also being released on the 23rd is Batman: The Animated Series Vol 1, the Justice League movie, and Transformers Season 1 Box Set.
AFAIK, the only profit Blizzard is making from battle.net is the sale of their product. Of course, given how widespread the WC3 beta is, they could potentially lose sales from people who only play on bnetd.
Yes, the remote isn't necessary to play games, but you did bring up DVD playback in your original post. Minor nitpick.
Of course saying "twice as much" is way overblown. But only $50 (as stated in your original post) isn't accurate either. I bought bundles of both systems, and the Xbox bundle was $100 more. Both came with an extra controller and three games, and the GC came with a memory card.
And to the other poster, it's not just the Xbox controller that's huge -- it's the entire console;) Course, the GC controllers are so small that I feel like I'm going to break em during a spirited session of SSBM...
Sure you can get an Xbox for $300. But you only get one controller.
Add in the price of games ($50 per), a DVD remote ($30), and an extra controller ($40), and you're easily into the $400s. And if you want to take your save games over to a friend's place, don't forget a memory card ($35).
...but they [Domination and Assault] were types that had not been previously available out of the box in a commercial game...
Tribes 1 was released in December 98 (UT was released sometime in 99), and had both game types. Domination was called Capture and Hold, and Assault was Defend and Destroy (though in a slightly different form).

Borders, Barnes&Nobels, Half priced books all get my business weekly but Amazon gets nothing from me.
Metropolis is also coming out on the 23rd.

So little time...
There's also the Philips eXpanium. It's nice, but not great -- poor battery life (three hours on one AA) and a poor interface are my main gripes.
You can play Diablo II over the net via TCP/IP.

I'm not saying Amazon's a saint, but before you denouce them, look at what some of the stores you frequent participate in.
