    I hope at least some of these are AMOLED or something similar so that the watch face can display the time and missed notifications, all the time. Not just when I press a button, at which point I'm half-way to just grabbing a phone in my pocket.

    The problem is that if 'we' (the west generally speaking) keep ignoring things, not wanting to start world wars and stuff, will eventually realize that there is no choice and face a foe that is already geared up and rolling.

    Just think of all the Russians that are US citizens and/or are on US soil, they surely need protecting as well.

    Seriously. Marching your military onto another country's territory without consent is a declaration of war. It's that simple, and yes, the US is just as guilty of this. If Russia is concerned about fellow Russians abroad they would not be sending in unmarked military to help 'secure' them. They would have also done this long ago, not a couple days after their favourite Ukranian gets run out of the country.

    Wait, so we have a bunch of Android fans complaining about the complexity of going to the settings screen and looking for a few toggle options. How do you actually use your Android phone? Samsungs' easy mode?

    PS - this happened to me too and after my new phone didn't get the text message while my old iPhone did (without a sim card, over wifi) the first thing I thought was to turn off imessage. It's not hard people. Especially for the slashdot crowd, I really really hope.

    But lets keep bashing Apple, and getting pageviews!

    No. iMessages and regular SMS coexist in the same thread. You can jump between the two at will. If you are imessaging with someone and they switch phones or just disable imessage, you'll just send out a SMS and they get a SMS.

    But doesn't this bias come from a majority male area - the courts. It's not like feminists have been lobbying the court system to get this outcome, it's one that's perpetuated (generally) by men against men.

    Feminists aren't going to spend time fighting for your rights in this case because they have other issues to worry about, such as why the court/justice system is still so predominantely male.

    Yes, there are plenty of examples of men being denied custody even though it's pretty clear the woman is causing damage. Don't blame that shit on feminists though.

    Google's core apps/services on Android are just as closed as Apple's, and they are on a trajectory to close off more and more things. Google is also known to delete data from user's phones without consent, unlike Apple so far.

    Oh don't worry.

    HL3 will be all gritty, move to a 3rd person perspective and add a super-awesome cover and reload mechanic. It's gonna be GEARED for the mass market. Also, Alex will have become a stripper and run around in her 'work' clothes. What else, oh, yeah, they'll start selling DLC before the game is even out!

    The summary is very badly written. The Note 3 running non-cheating (renamed) benchmarks is a few percent faster than the G2. The Note 3 running as is with the cheating code in place runs about 20% faster than the G2.

    Maybe this will get Samsung (and everyone) to just use regular Android without their crap add-ons.

    Google knew well enough to avoid getting into the trouble Samsung is in (and really, it's not that hard) so hopefully more companies will just ship 'plain' Android and relegate their add-ons to optional apps for people to download.

    FYI, 'bump' has been around for years. Both 'bumpees' need the app, but it's a bit more likely than both people having the same phone.

  24. No it's not. Yes, Steve Jobs said those things, but if you look at his track record he was bit of a drama queen with his statements.

    You'll notice that it's only Samsung, not all the other Android manufacturers or Google itself. If Apple's plan was to go after all of Android, they would likely start with a small manufacturer and then move their way up the chain with wins under their belt. Apple is going after Sammy because their combo of hardware and software for a period of time was an outright copy of the iphone.

    Yes, but generally that means that Sammy would get to present their evidence in reply, not have a press kit ready to roll to the media. Sammy missed the deadline, and then proceeded to piss the judge off by trying to get it in 10 times (or so, don't recall article exactly, maybe 11) with which the Judge (in my mind kind of understandably) started getting pissy with Sammy.

    No car analogy, but it's something like a student handing in a term paper late, prof says no, student keeps badgering prof to accept it, after a few tries the prof tells student to fuck off and threatens to call campus security.
