Politics is a dirty and complex game. The more I look at it the more I want to resign from the human race. At least with Bosnia we were stopping a genocide. I'm sure there was more to it than that but I could stomach a military conflict because it felt like we were really intervening in something horrid.

This I guess is kind of true and kind of not. It all depends are what a "right" is. It's kind of an abstract concept. Some of our forefathers believed we had inalienable rights. It seems to me that they were implying that these were "God-given" rights to all people. I think they justified the revolution based on the premise that England was denying them these God-given rights.

What I expressed in my earlier posts were some of MY moral beliefs. It's not a cop out it is just the way it is. You obviously don't agree with what I have said and that is your moral belief and that's fine. You have nothing to back up your moral beliefs either.

I believe that there is an absolute right and wrong, you apparently do not. There is no "proving" either position. I really don't think I can explain the abstract concept of morality any better than that. So if you still don't get it that's okay. A lot of people in the world today don't.

For example, I believe that you're an asshole and not overly bright. This is not well supported as I don't actually know you. The only evidence that you're not very intelligent is your inability to discern a moral belief and belief in facts. The only evidence that you're an asshole is that you attempt to invalidate the moral beliefs of others.

So you could say that my belief that you're an insensitive moron was "unfounded and unsupportable" however the same can not be said of anyone's moral beliefs. You may disagree with other's moral beliefs and that's okay but it would be necessary to try to invalidate them.

Then I looked at his face and realized he didn't understand. It was as if I'd told him how much girls liked Barry Manilow in the mid 80s. Barry who?"

Oh boy. As much as I would like it to be true, it's not. Microsoft still has a monopoly, still plays dirty by abusing its monopoly power and the Justice Department still has no balls. That means that Microsoft is still very dangerous.

They are now moving toward gaming the legal system with patent games and SCO like harassment lawsuits. Many believe that they indirectly and directly provided funding for the SCO fiasco. Yep, as long as they are both powerful and corporate thugs they're dangerous.

There are many of us that feel that there is a moral issue that needs to be addressed. What inherent right do we have to perform painful experiments on other life forms? The savage truth is that we have no such right. We get away with it because the life forms we hurt in the process are helpless.

Pretending that we are somehow so superior because we're smarter is really vanity. In the end you and I will be just as dead as the piss ant we step on. We will probably be the creatures that destroy all life on our planet. It's hard to claim superiority with that looming in our future.

Every creature developed from the Earth as part of an eco system and I am not denying that as part of that eco system animals kill one another in order to survive and we are nothing more than intelligent animals.

However, I also believe that our superior intelligence gives us superior responsibilities. Responsibilities like not destroying the planet. Not causing the mass extinction of other species in order to satisfy our wants. Not torturing creatures in painful experiments. In general the responsibility to be guardians of the eco system. The problem is that we are very intelligent but not too wise.

I can't claim that there is proof of a God but I do hope that in this vastly complex universe there are powers that will make accountable every act; good or bad, just or unjust, kind or cruel. I do believe that moral issues should not be trivialized for if there is anything that would make us superior to other animals it would be our ability to do what is morally right.

All that said, I don't think we should give human rights to a monkey.
