I use windows 2000 for my desktop, but freebsd as my servers.
I actually started using linux before freebsd but found it very frustrating(the list goes on), freebsd just seemed to work.
That being said I am guessing linux would be a better desktop, for doing desktopish windows things(dvd recording, ripping audio, games, scanner, etc..)
For a strictly development environment I would prefer freebsd but i would say they are comparable. Others may/will disagree,
I've love to try out linux on the desktop, but it seems I'd probably run into a wall with many hardware drivers or software apps not being available. Moreso than Windows at least. Everytime I need to search for software, it seems as though there is always a setup.exe for most of the Windows distributions, yet I rarely run across these for Linux. Linux seems to be used mostly in specialized machines such as webservers and the like, right? Not really geared towards the desktop? It seems like quite a bullet-proof OS that's organized better than most version's of Windows and runs more smoothly, why isn't there more software written specifically for it? Or am I completely missing something?
Just because the consensus thinks it is true does not make it true.
Thier market share might increase but I doubt their profit would.
>Any other correlations between the geeky art of case modding and the chick laden sport of illegal street racing?
Actually I would corelate case modding and overclocking to the early days of street rods.
Folks were trying to make them look great and/or modified to be fast.
Maybe take 10 people up and charge them $100,000 a piece.
>> Microsoft is really scared shitless!!!
You think this is good?
I always thought you wanted the giant to remain sleeping as long as possible.
No, they are not.
And when they are it's the liberals that want to do it.
Welfare and most other forms of government assistance have hurt poorer states.
And btw the way I grew up in Chicago lived in NY, WV, KY, IN, and TN.
Farmers are subsidized so food prices can be kept down.
And please the last thing a state like TN needs is a bunch of liberals they can get along just fine without you.
You are clueless.
I am guessing you wouldn't know a hard days work if it slapped you in the face.
Better than whom? Gore?
He conceeded because he lost.
Though I do thank him not dragging things out.
> Why did democrats win the states that represent growth, technology, diversity
You are stereotyping a bit so let me.
The states that are "backwards" is where people actually work.
Where things like family and country are important,
Ever play wiffle ball?
Funny you say that I did the same thing when learning perl.
Keeping just one high score, my nephew and niece played it for at least 2 hours.
I couldn't believe it.
You are so full of crap.
Woohoo!! I would have never that of that one.
/sarcasm off
Quit your day job you are a comedic genius!
A six-year could come up with something more orginal.
It all depends on the game and what you are trying to learn.
Books, video games, TV are all the same in this respect.
All three can teach various things some better than the others.
But there are also mindless books, mindless video games, and mindless tv shows.
Video games can be a great learning tools, but they can also be a pretty good waste of time(though usually fun).
But the same can be said about books and tv.
Ok done rambling.
You what? Screw you and your thinking.
Believe it or not but 99.9% of Americans couldn't give a crap about nl.
Don't tell me we killed your customs and your individuality,
you gave it up.
No one here cares if the people in nl have valnetines day.
You are a complete jerk.
Allright.
I love strategy games(chess, you name it)
I also feel I read people well.
I like geeky stuff but am not considered a geek(really).
While I never played poker I have watched it,
What makes a good player?
I know you can learn the odds, but that can't be the only thing that makes a good poker player,
What are the neccessary skills?
> Now here's a question: Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot that he himself could not eat it?
Yes.
I have to agree. I am surprised more courses don't require it or at least have cvs in 10-minutes.
I used CVS in the one computer class I took which helped me greatly. The thing was I already knew cvs pretty well.
So maybe it is not people don't want to use it they just don't know how?

>Let's set the record a little straighter - are you sure bundling the browser had nothing to do with its popularity?
No way. I hated netscape with a passion.
It was slow bulky and other bad things.
IE was much better IMHO.
I now use firefox. Why? Because it is better than IE IMHO.
It don't see wordpad the defacto word processor just because it was bundled with windows for the last decade.
Why does everyone when talking about why they don't like the BSD license talk about MS?
What about all the other small software shops that could benefit from BSD code?
Nothing.Or do you always take one case and then make huge sweeping generalizations? Or maybe you are just an idiot.
Think apache.
Backwards I believe.
10MB * 4/3 ~= 13.3 MB
It does not compress but rather takes all bytes and turns them into readable chars.
How is SNMP not open?
