Umm.. I believe cable modem use a shared line with other users. I am certainly no expert but I think it is more difficult with this setup, than with DSL.
One reason why I never liked sports video games. They were so unrealistic. I would say "Oh, that could never happen", when playing baseball, football, soccer or basketball" Why? because I played those sports alot in real life.
Now hockey I did enjoy on the genesis because I never played it. Same with doom, can't say I ever killed a demon with a shotgun.
I was reading Maximum PC the other, and there was an article about installing linux, mandrake was the dist. It said you should have 1GHz proc and 1GB of RAM if you were going to use KDE or GNOME! I usually run icewm and fvwm2, but what is up with those specs! Typos?
Holy crap, someone slashdot admits a superior post?
Let me shake your hand.

I would disagree, I went to freebsd after going through through rpm hell and pump screw ups. I thought freebsd was easier on newbies, just because when searching for help. I t wasn't well with suse do this, redhat do this, debian try this, slackware doesn't support that, etc...
Not trying to take away for linux, but the OSs seem to strive for different things.
I believe under current laws once you sold the cd you also lose your rights to the other copies. And therefore would have to destroy those songs on your iPod.
Good question and a fair one.
With an uncapped modem you are basically stealing for the other users(at least in heavy load times)

But I could be wrong
I would disagree. At least somewhat.
People put things on their sites, so people can see, but most folks don't want everyone to see.
I have pictures of my newborn boy on the web. I want certain people to see these pics but would prefer no one else.
What options do I have? Password protect them? Not realistic.
Rather, I figure no one is interested in these pics so no one will bother.
But many times slashdot posts a article knowing it will kill the site. Not very nice in my book.
>The only way to protect yourself is to not give out your address. Period.
:-)
Ummm.... then what good is it?
Do you just e-mail yourself?
But could it be done?
Clever
>God Bless America , and thank God I don't have to live there.
And I thank God you don't live here either.
Insightful?
What idiot modded this up.
Is this a potential replacement for citrix, at least part of it? Or is it too slow?
Meaning I could throw a window from a unix server running MS access to any unix box or windows box(with the added software).
Or am I missing something.

Hey, I know the answer is obvious.
Just not according to RMS.
What if the gov paid for your education?
Then you could do a job you love and pay wouldn't be that important.
Think socialism.
Ummm, that is the goal of GNU doncha know.
Some people seem to think that the goal of GNU is killing MS.
The real goal is to take away high paying programming jobs.
Why should a gas station clerk earn less than a programmer?

Oh good lord, I don't want it to run linux, just saying it could
First mistake:
Trying to apply logic to the laws of licensing.
Second Mistake:
Posting anonymously so you will never see this reponse
Third Mistake:
Talking about that basegame you watched on tv to your friends. Listen real close to their licensing and you will see you have broken the law.
...I'm sure it could run Linux, but currently it is running VxWorks.
Wouldn't oogle be a better name for a porn site?
I admit, I stole the joke from a previous poster a few weeks ago. But I thought it worth repeating.

Not to flame, but do you post on every article that concerns you not a lot?
Bad username good post.
Why don't MMOG have more money sinks?
I am thinking ever time you need to raise a level, you have to pay to be "trained".
You own a house or castle there is normal upkeep costs, etc...??
btw I never paly MMOG's but finding the economics of them quite interesting.

One thing missing from today games, is the suspense of losing.
I remember getting so far into certain games and being nervous about dying, because if I did I had to start over.
Now sometimes it was exteremely frustrating and ruined the game. Other times it made winning that much more fun. nethack comes to mind.
But now with a quick save every minute there is no suspense.
Because of the quick saves though the game makers make the games harder.
Somehow a balance of the two is needed, but I am afraid there will never be an ideal choice for everyone.

Kinda sad you have to tell folks your post is meant to be funny.
Since their are some people out there who strongly believe you are correct.
