    But what is the envirnoment like on Mars?

    Oxygen? Gravity? High/Low temps? etc..

    TV has become too racy for alot of folks, and not racy enough for the others. I made the the mistake of watching a prime time comedy with my children in the room, they learned all kinds of great words that I deem unacceptable. So the TV goes off.

    About the only things that get watched are history, tlc and espn.
    And about once a month Law & Order.

    Most people would get all they needed.

    Sure, you wouldn't want to play top-notch games but most people don't.

    I can easily see a $99 computer in the next decade.

    He is not saying it will be a top-line computer for $99 just one that the average user will accept.

    You make an excellent point.

    I made basic game in jr high(1986?), that while I was proud, really sucked.

    The worst game ever really should phrased the game with the biggest difference between potential and reality. That Romero game comes to mind.

    What are you talking about?

    You can get a fine computer nowadays for $499. I have even see $399.

    I bought my first computer in 1988, with hard earned McDonald's pay, and paid $1200 with a epson 24-pin dot matrix printer. And this was a packard bell low end model computer.

    I think if you look at the average cost of a home computer over the last 20 years it would be declining.

    Apache is great and a great piece of software.

    If you want a small fast web server you may want to look at thttpd I have had great luck with it.

    Granted it can't do all thr things Apache can, but for the simple it's great.

    Thanks to the writers of both programs.

    I always thought Commodore and others lost out because they were thought of a game computers, or atari 2600's with keyboards, not for word processing, spreadsheets, and the like.

    Of course we know that if a computer can run cutting edge games(for the time), it would have no problems running business apps.

    Apple and IBM computers were for real work. At least I think some folks felt this way.

    Is there a good listing of all the ports and what they do?

    I know a script could be written to search /usr/ports/ and cat the pkg-descr file, but is there anything out there a little more user-friendly?

    Ummm, I would have to disagree. I used CVS for my labs in a cs class, it was great.
    Never had to worry about making back-ups or screwing something up and not being able to go back to the working original.

    No, I have heard people call Americans arrogant because they only know one language.

    Maybe they assume Americans feel english is superior to other languages so they refuse to learn another language. But that is not the case for most people, it is simply is a matter not worth the time and effort.

    Also, I never claimed that knowing another isn't useful, but it is not near as useful for Americans as most other people.

    I for one do not like English and feel sorry for those that have to learn it.

    People like to slam American because they only know english, and frankly I am getting tired of it. Do you know how much learning another language would help me? Very little, see American is a pretty big place, and everyone(almost) speaks English.
    So the investment in time for most Americans to learn a language doesn't pay off. And even if I did what language should I learn?
    Spanish maybe, but every other language is a crapshoot.
    So lay off the "American are arrogant and stupid because they only know one languag" statements.

    I don't think I am geek, I played sports in HS and college, never had a problems with getting a girl-friend, but I always loved things like math, chess(strategy games), and computers.

    I always say I am a geek when it comes to computers, and there is no shame in this rather a compliment.

    So my father-in-law in a geek when it comes to old engines. Or my friend is a geek when it comes to James Bond movies, etc.

    Does anyone else talk like this?

    Answered the question without flaming the askee,
    Didn't use numbers/symbols for letters,

    Simple, they take the strategy out of the game.

    Too many units mean too many different actions, and the units in general are dumb as rocks.

    WC3 improved this a little bit with the ability to turn on healing spells as such, but still certain units take too much time to hand hold that they become ineffective.

    If you have 200 dumb units you just send them all at once, maybe picking out a couple to use their special abilities.

    The newer games do better at making units smarter but not good enough.

    Bad example with the newspapers.

    They are not worth anything after one day.
    You have to have upfront money and they would be hard to resell.

    And you would only want one, any more would be an inconvience.

    Sure, plenty of times people are honest(I never lock my doors), but the original posters statements is just stupid.

    There are plenty of reasons DRM is a bad idea but not that.

    The point of the article is safe nuclear plants.

    Everyone knows that bad things happen if a nuclear plants go bad, we don't need Greenpeace nuts to tell us that.

    I for one am not going to drive a car today because someone died, or eat molasses because many many years in Boston(?), a molasses silo broke and killed some people in the town, I could go on..

    Now if they have evidence that the new process isn't safe then maybe I will listen.
