... that my closet is more physically secure than the Customs department of the country of Australia? Next you're going to be telling me that it has more illeg^H^H^H^H^Hperfectly legal music too!
.. for me at least. No matter how well I organize something, it will always be proven inefficient and when I'm in a rush, I'll never adhere to the format I choose. I have multiple servers, each with multiple disks, mount points, and nfs/smb exports.
The solution? I put something wherever the hell is convenient. Then.. and just try to guess this... I use this nifty thing called "find"!
I'd like to make one quick point. If a remote root exploit is found in Linux (like the RPC hole found a couple of months ago for Microsoft), the same type of Worm can happen.
The biggest (not only) difference, is that Microsoft (with Windows) has such a large market share, that it only makes sense to attack it. If Linux had 90% of the market, you know there would be virii exploiting it's holes. Same goes with Apple (OSX being based on FreeBSD has many of the same holes as Linux).
I'm amazed that someone doesn't take the time to create a virus that would really go gung-ho. You know its possible.
Ya know, something that exploits as many vulnerabilities in as many operating systems as possible, manifests itself in hundreds of ways (replacing real data with itself), deletes important files, does everything it can to prevent its removal (overwriting a/v software, blocking fix provider websites, disabling ways people get knowledge about it), spread itself like crazy (via every means possible), and then launch huge and frequent DDoS against as many targets as you can fit in a little black book. Not to mention, systematically downloading more UPDATED AND MORE DANGEROUS copies of itself via an unstoppable self-created P2P network using local, seed, and broadcast hosts.
And what happens when someone hacks into Microsoft's update servers and releases a patch that recursively writes over every byte of the hard drive to the tune of a 1980's video game MIDI file?
Is Microsoft going to be liable for the loss of all your documents, and time to recreate your system?
Software vendors (ahem, Microsoft) can't continue monopolizing themselves without offering more accountability.
Don't we have more money than Russia? And they dare exceed us in Space technology? And the word Nuclear is in there?
Call up G.W., and get Larry Ellison down here, I smell a hostile takeover!

If you have a "Sun Storage Cabinet", you can afford to pay a few thousand bucks to get this taken care of properly. If you can't afford it, then wait until it breaks, and you'll be forced to.
Although Silicon and Diamond are two very different things (VERY different), the bottom line is that they have now been able to get a diamond to conduct electricity. Diamonds are MUCH more resistant to heat than Silicon. The two reasons your CPU won't go faster are 1) heat 2) size.
As manufacturing sizes (popularly measured in microns) decreases, there needs to be a better way to get rid of (or tolerate) the heat that the more compact and complex chip generates. Diamonds are a great solution for this.
I, personally, am betting that in 30 years, I will buy electronic device that includes at least some diamond component. That is, assuming I don't get hit by a bus. *KNOCK*
Personally, I couldn't care less where a Diamond comes from - it's the same thing whether its a thousand years old and coming from Africa, or if its coming from a lab in Boston or Florida. Ultra-dense carbon that looks pretty, I get it!
DeBeers is one of the worst companies on the planet, I just *hope* they don't go along with the new technology, continue their practices, and go bankrupt (no, not the kind where they continue operations). Hopefully, some of their crimes will catch up with them, legally or otherwise. To all De Beers employees, as soon as a new job opportunity comes up, take it!
"The BSD License" is a license, the GPL, LGPL, and "Apache License" are licenses.
Open Source is the ability for anyone, or at least those not excluded by some other clause, to be able to view the code, documentation, notes, and related materials of a project or undertaking.
By adding a GPL component, it does NOT make the entire project GPL.
BSD kernels do have GPL components. They also have Publid Domain and Apache licensed components. I know off the top of my head that OpenBSD's floating point emulation is GPL (although they'd surely prefer it not to be).
It could be an option, given people want to work it in.
If I buy Microsoft XP Pro for ~ $300, does that mean they will only cover $300 in legal costs? So, I get to sit down at the lawyers office, ask for my free bottle of water, and get about 3 sentences out of my mouth before the real clock starts...
Yes, I run Windows on my desktops. And yes, I've stopped patching. I refuse. What's installed is exactly what comes off the CD. Got a problem with that, Microsoft?

Several - including one in my laptop. Too bad about your luck, I haven't had any problems.
If NSI implements this, its 100% iron clad proof that they have a monopoly (read: too much control) over the domain name market.

It works.

These virus makers aint' shit! So far...
Yes, I believe that they call us "nerds".

What two things go better together than Star Wars and sex?
Women and Sex?

Nononono...

... deserves to get ripped off, and should probably go back to their proprietary SCO UNIX anyways. Blegh.
I suppose you don't have pets? (anymore?)
I think they should upgrade my IOS version out of good faith ;)

I think that's more accurate.
How dare you disgrace the names of Tellah and Edward by associating them with a MMORPG!
