Um. What kind of guy would be able to break into eBay and then be so obviously incapable of defending himself? Back in younger days, I defended myself against a minor traffic ticket. What a mistake. I lost the 'big case'. The judge knew all my pals who were in mock trial, so I think he went easy on me. ( I didn't get the chair, just a big-ass fine.) Learned a bunch, though. Most importantly: IANAL!

My pal who could do 70 wpm? He made about one error per page. He was a machine! :)

Then I tried finding something similar to Acid (by Sonic Foundry) and was immediately dissapointed to find nothing that would work for me. :( I was so enamored by this OS I looked into writing my own software. I realized I could be either a programmer or a musician, and I chose musician. (I've had much more practice at that :)

I still have Beos installed on my machines and boot into it occasionally to see if BeAcid has suddenly appeared. It hasn't. I will definately look into OpenBeos when it gets more fleshed out, and look forward to the day I can stop using something I hate (windows) to make something I love (music)

  24. Re:Personal Copyrights and personal freedoms. on SSSCA Hearing · · Score: 2, Insightful
As a musican, I am seeing this as the beginning of the end of individual creation of content.

You want to write software? Fine. Be sure to register with Software Industry Association of America and get your idea approved. Then after 4-6 weeks you'll be sent an "Individual Coder's Package." This will allow you to write your software with all the copy protection and watermarks built in (not editable by you, of course.) and run your software on your DRM compliant machine, only. This will not allow you to distribute your software; distribution will be decided by the SIAA after a lengthy review process. After 4-6 months, the SIAA decides that your software performs a similar function as a program by AOL/TimeWarner/Microsoft. A form letter arrives letting you know that you are in suspected violation of the DMCA. Your rights to create are suspended, pending an investigation. (4-6 years.)

If you are a writer, replace software with story.

If you are a musician, replace software with song.

If you are an artist, replace software with art.

If you are a filmaker, replace software with film.

If you are frightened, disgusted, and alarmed, you should be.

This will be the future if people do not educate others, and sit idly while Industry decides how best to control what you see, hear, use, and buy.

    Have a great day.

My first RC car was a brown Bronco from the Sears Wish Book. It was $40+ bucks and ran for about 10-15 min on 5 C Nicads. It had two gears, switchable on the car, high speed and a torque setting (low). I took it apart to put a Lego body on it, and don't remember what happened to it. (It rocked.) When I grew up (ha), I bought an RC 10 (far too expensive - $250+ ow.) and that was fun! Got rid of it later, though - you run into a tree at 35 mph, and something's got to give (not the tree ;) Parts for the thing were crazy $$$, but at least you could fix anything that went wrong.

Toys that actually defended themselves would be altogether too damn cool! Now if I could only rig something to attack the cats on the kitchen counter...
