    All Adobe is saying is "we're not going to compete in a market where we'll be soundly trounced."

    By the way, Acrobat sucks pretty bad on OS X. Most people use Preview instead of Reader. Creation of pdf files is as easy as hitting "Print", then "Save as PDF", which takes away much of the need for the full version of Acrobat.

    I have since moved on to Wikipedia.

    I find Wikipedia provides a lot more objective information without all the useless fluff. Another plus is that it doesn't have that bizarre "culture" that e2 has. I don't want to have to make friends to record information.

    My annual operating cost for an $800 HP LaserJet 2200 is about a $100 for toner.

    Sure, I paid a lot more up front, but having to spend $100 every two months to maintain an Epson Inkjet added up quickly.

    It's not a port. It's a completely different product. They tried a direct port with Word 6, and it failed miserably. Mac users don't want Windows ports.

    Most of the work is most certainly not done. It's not like we run /usr/bin/word. It's a Cocoa app, not a UNIX app.

    You sign a contract saying that you will not use the data when the rental is over. If you do, you might get away with it, but you stand a good chance of being sued into oblivion.

    If someone wants to rent it for 999 years, they just sign a 999-year contract, I imagine.

    About 95% of the world's computer users.

    Since when has a Linux user honestly given a cr*p what anyone else thinks?

    As long as I can remember. I'm not saying it's bad, but linux users are just as fanatical as Mac users. Almost any negative commentary about linux is met with a slew of rebuttals.

    If linux users are really independent of popular opinion, why is it that every high profile article stating that maybe linux isn't all it's cracked up to be generates several hundred comments on slashdot?

    A full reload is pointless on most sites. Why bother reloading title.gif when you want to see if there are any new slashdot stories? It's a waste of bandwidth.

    It sucks that the shift-reload trick is undocumented, but you could easily fix that.
