Grr this is how rumors start. The story clearly says "up to $240". Not $240 per page.

HAHAHHAA that's a hilarious joke! You see, when Slashdot links to a site, it receives allot of traffic and runs a risk of being overloaded. This clever poster is poking fun at that. GENUIS I SAY!
You just don't get it. Any technology can be circumvented. We know this, the designers know this. What they want is the majority of people to stop pirating. Windows XP's activation scheme for example makes it much more difficult for the average Joe to burn a copy for there friends. Yes methods exist to install it illegally but most consumers have no idea they exist or how to use them.
Also it's not about creating a fool proof solution right now. This is about slowly putting these restrictions into everyday consumer technology to get people used to it. Unfortunately those that care about this are a small majority. People just want to press a button and have something work, they don't want to think about what's going on inside.
I used to drink nothing but pop (or soda whatever you want to call it) for years. Then I quit cold turkey. The secret is to start drinking water instead and drinking some juice whenever you get the craving for that caffeinated sugar water. Have a pop every few days but think of it as candy. Would you want to eat nothing but candy all day?
After a few months you get addicted to water and NEED it. I feel half sick if I go without it for a couple days. Your body really loves water but has gotten used to living without it. I've went from drinking 6 pops a day to 1 a week because now they taste horrible. Try it for yourself. Pop tastes horrible, but you just have to deprive yourself of it for awhile to realize it.
Maybe I've been going about this all wrong but encoding in OGG never works out for me. I have looked around for tutorials on encoding but have not found anything helpful. Encoding with Lame is as simple as "lame -m -b 24 bla.wav". OGG is somewhat of a mystery to me. Can someone shed light on it with some links to resources and tutorials? I would really like to move away from closed formats like MP3.
THANK YOU. Awesome trick. I put up the images as you described them. These worked for me. I did notice my LCD acting really weird when these images were being displayed. I don't recommend keeping the image on the monitor for any longer than needed.

I know, but the whole product makes about as much sense as a car that can only turn one way, but not the other. It's half the price of the regular car and eats just as much gas but can only turn right. Limited market, limited appeal, absolutely no reason for anyone to want one.
You're forgetting we are innocent until proven guilty. Not innocent until arrested. The people in those holding cells are not proven to be criminals yet. It is very possible they are innocent.
I might as well take the opportunity to pimp my own show, Uberleeto. Each week I take the current tech news and do a bit of ranting. Episodes are 15 minutes at the most, great for people with low attention spans.
I'm looking for as much feedback as possible. My email address is at the bottom of the page. http://hackermedia.net/uberleeto
He is not saying he knows of anyone else out of his local coverage area that is having problem. This is not dealing with anything close to the whole North-eastern edge of the USA. If it was then this would be an interesting article. Instead it's ONE guy bitching about his lack of mail for a week. Boohoo.
What a useless Slashdot story. So your email was down for a day or so. DEAL WITH IT. This is not news, services do go down. My internet connection has been down several times. So has my eletricty. Where is my front page slashdot article?
As much as Linux ported games being a good thing, can they please just let this lousy piece of software die? All the game has going for it is the initial 5 minutes of bliss you get killing people. After that you spend as much time playing as you do loading.
The RSS feed from my site combined with the iPodder app will download all kinds of hacking, phreaking, tech, and geek related amateur radio shows.
