We're sorry, but the link found in the previous two posts points to illegaly pirated and reproduced media of copyright holders. In retaliation we are currently doing two things to make sure that the copyright holders rights are upheld. DoSing the holder of the links, http://slashdot.org; and removing the password from http://riaa.com/admin for the 7th time. To prevent things like this from happening in the future, we have decided to implement a new restriction on the 'analog hole'. Now, viewers will have entertainment routed to the pleasure sensing portions of the brain without allowing them to be illigaly copied into memory, or reproduced by any output (Typing, Speach, Mental Telepathy, Blinking Morse Code, ect.). All questions and conserns can be sent up your ass, as it's not like we would do anything with them. Thank you

Put as many widgets as you want in there, as long as it works in all browsers. There are lots of things that Opera and Netscape will slip up on, and things that IE also dives rendering. One thing that everyone has been (rightfully) bitching to MS about is PNG support. Come over here with a bunch of diffrent browsers and compaire results. Another thing I found to not work in IE is the top logo on this page. The first example you might want to stay away from because it'll make your site ugly if it fails, but the second one is fine. For people still looking, in Opera the top logo is fixed when scrolling like it should be, and in IE it moves. This kind of thing adds to the coolness of the site, but if you can't see it it's really no big problem.
How long untill we see commercial airlines that are un-manned? I can imagine flying from Seattle to California without a pilot, and a synthisised voice over the intercom announcing the wether.
Leaving your car unlocked does not make my stealing your radio (or your car) illegal. Locking it is only meant to slow down / discourage the illegality. It also signifies to an erronious but law-abiding citizen that they have the wrong car (key doesn't fit).
Yah, well if you park your car on the street then someone is allowed to leave a note on the windsheild with information on how to get free university diplomas. No one is 'stealing your car/computer' here. Mabey if someone sent a net send of death that changed your admin pass, that would be hacking. Displaying a message isn't. If someone goes up and down the ICQ UID's and messages each with an ad, are they hacking your computer too?
I somehow don't think that a poll on http://XPde.com is a fair sample of computer users. Better would be Google. Anyone ever asked if they wanted to put a little poll on their page? Could even make it a new tab, where people could dynamicly create them for everyone else to answer with a random one showing on the homepage. Alright, I'm done now. Uh, oh yah. Bad sample.
Um, uhhhhh.... I think he's talking about the transparancy behind the text lables. In XP, you don't have a block of the color of your desktop behind each name, instead they have a small drop shadow like OSX. Something I've been waiting for... (even though I don't have a wallpaper...)
Talking to this guy in the chatroom, he says that the slashdotting isn't too bad, and it usualy dies off in about a couple hours. I guess he's just used to everything blinking on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off.
Opera 7, set to only open requested windows. That does it for me! And if I ever need to change it, or a bunch of other options like what browser to identify as, 'Enable GIF Animation', 'Enable embedded audio', 'Enable Java', 'Enable Plugins', 'Enable JavaScript', 'Enable Cookies', 'Enable Referrer Logging', and more, I just press F12 and select from the context menu. Thanks Opera!
I think your prices might be a bit off. I've seen times when it was cheaper to buy a new printer, take the ink out of it, and throw/give the printer away as a gift then get new ink. It's just like Microsofts stratigy, and as such, is starting to fail. Sell the investment at a loss, charge too much for ink/games/what not. I wonder how long till we start running Linux on our DeskJets? Do you still get the 'LTP1 On Fire', or is it replaced with 'Ayeeeeeeee!'?
Really. Because I just happened to look in my system tray today and saw an icon. I double clicked this icon which said "Updates have been downloaded. Click 'Install' to install them'.
I clicked, browsed slashdot a little, and in a minute or two it told me it was done.

Problem Description:
A certain set of subnets on Adelphia's Powerlink network are treated as a HUB/SWITCH and therefore allow cable modem subscribers promiscuous monitoring of the subnet, and arp poisoning (man in the middle) attacks. Upon finding this flaw, it seems to only affect windows users dhcp requests, as for *nix it hands off an entirely different subnet ip address that is not vulnerable. This doesn't stop one from booting into *nix and manually configuring their ip to be on the vulnerable subnet. To review, with arp poisoning, one can do a tremendous amount of malicious activity on a subnet, from DoS'ing the network, to hijacking DNS servers, and even attacking/cracking SSL/SSH/VPN negotiations. Promiscuous mode, one can passively monitor all traffic on the subnet, obtaining private information, including logins/passwords, and private email.
Vulnerable Subnets:
please contact security@invisiblenet.com for info regarding specific subnets.
Solution:
The solution is varying on how the cable networks topology is handled, and arp poisoning, as we know is not a completely solvable issue without a physical/virtual separation of Layer 3 from Layer 2 in the OSI Model. For promiscuous mode, don't have the network in HUB mode.
Alright, can I just wish Mr. Taco well wishes and congradulate him w/o being modded 'Redundent'? I meen, come on. If you came home to a surprise party and one person jumped out yelling 'SURPRISE' it's just not the same. I wasn't the first person to see this article, so does that meen I should lose karma just to congradulate someone about getting married?

I totaly agree, I think those are very cool. Especialy for servers. Imagine having a stack of 10 dedicated servers you were leasing out in a neat little stack. Only question is... upgradeability? Are these going to be disposable computers, or will one be able to replace parts inside? (CPU/RAM/HD...)
Just use mine...

I've thought about going to makers of cards to see how things get made in that department. Anyone know if Creative, ATI, ASUS, ect. give tours?

That, and you have the obvious security problems! Just slide a peice of paper in there and you have yourself a keylogger.
Really? I thought it was Gore... oh well.
And this is already done in Opera. Just g, space, and your query. ONE letter. Two, including the space.

Want more karma? Consider responding to any post of mine! Never fails.
I wonder if the Slashdot readers will still be as obsesed with karma as they are today in 2012?
Mabey CmdrTaco will have gone from numbers to text lables to a big red or green square by then.
