How much of that energy efficiency is negated by having to power the "always-on" circuitry in order to respond to the WiFi signals? One of the appeal of highly efficient LED bulbs is the savings gained due to the fact that they use far less energy when they are on compared to other bulbs. Products such as the Phillips Hue, may use almost as much energy when they are "off" just so they can respond to a WiFi signal from my smart phone. I couldn't find out from their website just how much power is drawn from the Philips Hue when they are "off". The total cost of ownership will need to include not only how power is used to illuminate the bulb for 3 to 5 hours a night but also how much is used when they are in stand-by the rest of the day.
I use 1Password on the Mac and iPhone which works very well for me. The desktop program comes with plug-ins for several web browsers and your password data can be wirelessly sync'd to your iPhone in case you need access to your data on the go.
Is that the best you can do? Do you really have the word "More" and its associated icon clipped on your products' main screen as shown on your official home product page? You couldn't at least make it so the home screen isn't clipped in all of your publicity photos?
Because people 'feel entitled' to have what they want when they want it, and if they can't get it for free, 'they'll steal it.' It's become customary to expect a somewhat limited perspective on things from old-world entertainment companies
While I don't necessarily agree with his conclusion that nothing good has come from the internet, I agree with this statement 100%. A lot of people do feel entitled to take whatever they want when it comes to digital content on the internet. Of course there is good on the Internet, but the selfishness and lack of ethics in society that manifests itself on the Internet is a very real and undeniable evil. It is that which sometimes gives the Internet a bad reputation among some industries.
Right now the exchange rate is much more favorable for Quatloos. Most places that take the Yootle also take Quatloos anyways so it's not much of a problem.
Boss Hogg to work there. He really understood his percentage.

I don't think it was the intention of the OP to make a crack about France surrendering as much as it was making an observation that a country might choose to spend its money on infrastructure to improve its quality of life for its citizens instead of billions of dollars a week for the past 3+ years on a war of questionable motivation.

Does anyone know of any HTPC setups where someone can plug in a CableCard from their Cable Co. and capture digitally from that instead of using a tuner card?

Cubicle doors for privacy

Cubicle Privacy
·
· Score: 5, Interesting
I wad visiting a friend at his office once and I saw that his cube farm had actual sliding doors on their cubes, that can be closed to give people some privacy. The doors clamped onto the side of the walls and looked like the beveled, frosted glass you see on a shower door. You could still see the silhouette of someone in the cube, but it gave the occupant some sense of privacy. You could have the doors open when you don't mind people coming into your office to ask questions and slide it closed when you're busy and don't want to be disturbed. Ever since I saw that I've been looking around in google trying to find them so I can tell my boss that's what we need. So far I haven't been able to find them. All I've ever turned up in my searches are cheesy things like these which aren't nearly as nice. Has anyone else seen those nice sliding doors for cubicles and know who makes them?

Looks like it's time to move on to HDBaseT and be done with it.

Corollary: send a mirror copy of all data to fbi.gov. See if we can cause two incidents at the same time.
That won't be necessary since if you're using AT&T a copy is automatically sent to the Feds.

So a tree falling in the woods does make a sound even if nobody is around to hear it?
This might work in Boston, but what about the rest of the country?
