Duh. There is no such thing as bit-rot. The only thing that can rot is the physical medium. DivX compression isn't protecting the data magically, the data is fine because its not stored on a faulty medium (in this case certain DVD discs). It has nothing to do with whatever is on these faulty discs and everything to do with the discs themselves. Your theory, no offense, is completely wrong.

Guess what, I love the "Don't complain, do something about it" attitude. It is great, and it will get things done. Frankly I could care less if Linux gets adopted as a mainstream desktop, it works for me.

Frankly I really don't think Jordan is plagairising Herbert or Goodkind is plaigarising Jordan. I think the genre has been played out. I think everybody is running out of ideas, because the fantasy genre itself has certain expected precepts. You can only do so much if it has to be in a pseudo-medieval swords and sorcery magic setting. My problem is I like it anyway. There are a lot more creative fantasy genres out there, but I like this crap :).

I love how he claims that fact that you can get a command prompt in XP means dos must be underneath still. Call me crazy but I thought the NT series emulated dos for backwards compatibilty. I didn't think NT was just hacked on to DOS like Win9x, 3.11 , etc. were. He seems to think if someone tried REALLY hard they could still get XP to run on top of DR-DOS instead of...well instead of the imaginary DOS that isn't there now. Then there's the whole micro vs monolithic kernel thing. I hope no one reads this article and think, "Yeah! Why don't they?" There's a reason Apple had to provide the classic environment after they released OS X, and it ain't because some people prefer the old widget style.
