One of the top hacks I would like to see is the cracking of the RSA? encryption. This was quite the fascinating hack, and I feel that it is well deserving to be placed on the list
Pine is a text only web browser??? Gee, and all of this time I have been using it as an e-mail client. Perhaps you were mistaken, and are actually referring to Lynx. ~Cyberphreak
Well, well. The crackers are at it again. I am rather surprised thast the Kevin Mitnick fiasco did not do anything to them. I am disturbed that people can be so immature as to crack into government systems. While I do not particularily agree with the government, I agree, yes it is trespassing, and that while it may seem exhilerating during the crack, it is stupid, and especially dangerous if you get caught.
It seems to me that our friend Mr. Katz has caught the media bug, and is calling us legal, useful denizens of the computer world criminals. I am afraid that I cannot take having this common misnomer floating around everywhere. I used to be proud to call myself a hacker, and I am now ashamed even to allude to my hobby because of what the media has distorted. This was an otherwise good article, and Katz pointed out some interesting things. He is right in saying that the victims of computer crime are miniscule compared to domestic crimes, and that yes, Mitnick has served an exorbitant amount of time for what basically amounts to parole violations.
I agree entirely that this is a good system to go by, never mind that I am only in school. The higherups here allow me to do just about anything. I have MP3s, I bring burgers in here, and they basically let me sit here and play around with all sorts of neat things as long as they get the problems taken care of and that I can get out of the way when all the computers here are needed. This is just fine, b/c I have a laptop to use.
YESSS!!! I knew I was not hallucinating. I saw the movie last friday, and during the scene in the Senate, i was convinced that I saw ET in the lower corner. Thank you for verifying this fact.
Gave it to a person like Linux? I was the assumption that his name was Linus. Anyway, Very good thing giving a good man like our Hero Mr. Torvalds a doctorate. So what do we call him now, Dr. Linus Torvalds?
Can't they be labeled correctly?

I too am sick and tired of this common stereotype of crackers and lamers using our good name. I am in the age range (17) of these losers, however, I just enjoy using computers and learning with them. I currently run a Linux box in my room, and I am what is called a Technology Assistant at school. When I tell people that I am a hacker, without fail the first thing they ask is if I can get in and change their grades. These children need to realize that I do not do that sort of thing, and if I DO crack into the network, it will be simply to learn and I will then tell admin what I did so the problem can get documented and rectified at the earliest opportunity.

What would the M$ logo be? I personally believe that it would be a vulture, or some bird of prey. In the battle of the birds, the cute penguin will win...
So as to implement the borg-like interface, it wpuld require windows 95. I say this only because any machine that is running Win95 on it has been assimilated into the Microsoft Collective, almost never to be relinquished. However, if one was willing to convert a cybernetic race of beings over to Linux, I would probably line up to become Assimilated.
WHat is the point of this? We Linux people need but one license. I am quite happy with the GPL, and I believe that it is the bible to other hackers like me. LONG LIVE THE GPL

Yes, the story is strong in these articles, hmm. Fascinating, yes. Read it you must, if you wish to know the future. Starwars is calm, peaceful.
