A picture is porn when it is used to depict a person or people in a sexually explicit way and not for medical purposes, and this is especially so when the owner's intent is to make a profit. A photograph is not needed to show proper condom use. Something handdrawn would be quite sufficient and since it isn't meant to be sexually explicit and could even be considered for medical use then it wouldn't be porn.

They aren't the requirements to execute Vista, they are the requirements to execute Vista, and things on top of it, which is of course the point to having an OS.

Which isn't an accurate way of writing requirements since "and things on top of it" could mean anywhere from 1 extra application to 30. So 1 gigabyte of RAM is basically useless unless that phrase is defined to be certain apps, or better yet, none at all since adding extra apps into the equation just masks what the real requirements are of the OS.

The marketing programs and upgrade tool are designed to ease some of the uncertainty around Vista well ahead of the back-to-school and holiday shopping seasons, the two biggest PC selling times of the year. Vista had long been expected to arrive by the 2006 holidays, but Microsoft said in March that it would not arrive on store shelves until January.

First of all, which holiday shopping seasons are they referring to and how many are there to begin with? I thought there was Christmas and maybe Hanukkah and that was about it. And second of all, what the hell does "by the 2006 holidays" mean? That narrows it down to about...365 days since there are holidays all throughout a calendar year. People who phrase things like that are complete idiots.

If not then which holiday season did you mean? There are a ton of holidays in a calendar year and more than 1 in Q4.

After all evolution is not going to have an organism waste lots of energy repairing DNA damage and having pools of immune cells constantly checking for mutant cells if the organism is just going to get eaten by a cat in an average of a few months after birth.

After all? You make it sound so natural and obvious. I didn't realize evolution had the ability to think and make a choice like that. Using that logic evolution should be smarter and realize that it shouldn't let cancer take over in the first place since it would mean almost certain death eventually. Evolution can no longer live if its host dies.

Media reflects our culture not the other way around, "fix" our culture and the desire for simulated violence will go away on it's own.

Media reflects culture? That's one way to absolve the media of any responsiblity (agree with their excuse). That must be why TV commercials try to attract a person to buy something that is new on the market and be the first to grab it before all his/her friends do. They are only reflecting....well,something that doesn't exist yet so I guess they aren't reflecting anything at all but instead trying to create/modify the culture. At that point they can call upon your excuse and say "look, we are just doing what the public does." which conveniently forgets which came first- chicken or egg.

Good because it should offer more flexibility now and better design for authenticating to Windows while allowing ISVs to integrate their authentication mechanisms in a cleaner fashion. However it will be bad just for those who have to rewrite all their existing code to work with the new model, especially since the new model isn't backwards compatible which will probably annoy many people but it's one way to force adoption of the newer model.
