Looking at our /. account numbers I am new here :-) Maybe 5 years now? But I seem to remember that only 6 months or so ago only half of the stories were posted. Whatever, maybe there's a nieche with selecting good /. stories and post them on a different site again. After modding and so on.

That is a point. Honesty begins with general acceptance of ownership and not just some kind of Robin Hood like acting. Doesn't matter if some RIAA is bad or not. If you don't like them, don't buy from them. If your favourite artist is contracted by them, buy their CDs or vinyls. Or don't. Now you made a good point..

I miss that Slashdot quality assurance thing that used to be. I mean editors seem to publish more and more unuseful things over the time. I think /. readers should not need to read all those rumors. There is enough ThinkSecret, AppleInsider and so on to look for this kind of information. What's wrong here anyway? BTW, thanks for modding me down. I am actually a Mac user and I love both, Mac and /. I just don't like recent steps taken by both.

Thanks for reading. You can now turn off your computer.

Thank you. I really love Apple and their products but sueing sites that kinda force the masses into buying stuff... well, that's kinda ugly. Without all the buzz around Apple and all their secrets there would be only half the fun. I bet most of their "secrets" were revealed to thos sites by Steve himself. I never imagined to be modded troll for a simple comment like that. /. is really getting worse.

since I switched over to Apple the average speed of the system got faster. I got an iBook 500 and from update to update (i.e. 10, 10.1, 10.3) it starts up much nicer and seems to work better than better before. This is something I never experienced with any of the MS systems. Funny, isn't it?

Some of the things I miss from ADC is that documentation updates that seem to be on a regular basis are not downloadable. When I still used 10.1 cause I couldnt affort Jaguar I thought it might be somehow useful to have instead a up to date Linux. I remember my old PC days when I ran Suse on my machines and everything was fine and easy to install and configure and use. Okay I thought same should apply to Apple hardware. But everything I tried kinda failed from the first minute. Gentoo run really smooth but updating on an iBook 500 was just to much. 2 days compiling for KDE and Xfree was too long, Mandrake was kinda messy with its firewall and sometimes didnt exactly do what I told it to do. Then I tried YDL. Worst part in my Distro checking. Absolutely no configuration possible. No easy software updating. At least nothing as easy as I used to know under Suse. So I finally got my Panther and have Fink installed. No more Linux on my partitions.

When you create an new account in mail.app and tick off ckeck for new mail (or something like that because I use a different language) Mail still checks for mail from that server. That is actually no problem when your mail is forwarded to another account you are actually checking and you just use that first account for sending mail. But my provider gives reports of how much spam and so on checked in and that is not forwarded so it always comes into my mailbox.

Next uncool feature is the inbox collection instead of leaving it where it belongs to. I have a bunch of accounts but my inboxes never show up together with thei Imap folders. Thats annoying since I cant re-move it back to its own folder. I dont know, maybe this was already a 'feature' in 10.2 but 10.1 was much better with that.

Another thing is the menu bar which gets always messed up. SPeakers, time and so on look messed once a program with many entries shows up.

    Anyway, I like Panther.

PS One more bug is the mouse wheel. Its so jumpy to scroll a page in browsers. Nothing smooth anymore.
