I am currently typing in my INCREDIBLE POWERFUL laptop:
Toshiba 2100, k6-2 400, 256 megs RAM, 4GB HD
It has mandrake 7.2 installed, runs staroffice, netscape, and (wow) Windoze NT inside a VmWare. (Don't ask me why - it's too embarrasing)
And yeah, it suports pcmcia like a charm, I 'apm -s' it when going home/work, so its uptime is measured in ages, it never boots. When I booted the NT partition outside vmware (yeah it dual boots too), it could not be suspended reliably (NT often shitted itself upon resume) I truly doubt your laptop has HARDWARE dvd playback (like the dxr2 hadware I have on my pc, but...) so i'll assume you are talking about software dvd playback. Well, in this k6-2 mplayer has a hard time decoding the shit, but I believe it will be able eventually. In any real-world machine (p3) mplayer plays smooth like baby's butt whatever DVD you want.
So, quit yer LUSER's whining and admit that you are too sissy to run linux instead of saying that it wont run on laptop. That's utter bullshit.
