    it's hard to get neutral editors on an issue that is culturally-charged, especially when the medical journals you're wishing to insert citations from (the BJU, etc) go against the status-quo in the US (but not in britain)

    I was trying to bring the article in a state of neutrality by presenting all relevant information pro and against, significant amounts of notable and strong-citation-provided material against the subject have been censored from wikipedia by a member of arbcom, an admin, and their lackeys via rule-gaming. They are engaged in the most egregious pov-pushing.

    Perhaps you should get your neurology check.. that knee-jerk was pretty hard and uncalled for. When wikipedia first came out i was one of it's biggest supporters, wikipedia itself - specifically an administrator, an a member of ArbCom + their lackeys - made me change my mind.

    I stopped editing wikipedia due to some extremely biased, shrill, and bludgeon-you-with-the-rules (claim you were violating the rules when you weren't) editors.

    One of these editors was an admin, another was on ArbCom. It was basically a group of people who would camp one specific subject and keep it edited to support the cultural status quo/their religion's position on the article. They did it through keeping information out of the article that would cast the subject in the disfavorable light it should have, and does in most of the non-english speaking world, and some of the english speaking world.

    These individuals would probably pass whatever trust-checking mechanism.

    The truth is not reached via consensus.

    Zap2it said that mythtv was NOT the problem, and was very cooperative with the mythtv Devs in setting up SchedulesDirect and getting things working (in fact listing downloads for SD subscribers actually take place on TMS servers right now).

    The problem was comercial organizations getting the listings free and making a profit off using those listings.

    if you do your research and get well supported cards (Hauppauge PVR-150s, PVR-500s for analog, DVB cards for digital (the Kworld ATSC 110 is a DVB card that does US ATSC and QAM)) setup is a snap. It's not mythtv's fault if you fail to check your cards compatability.

    that being said setup could certainly be made easier

    it matters massively. HD is MPEG2 at 1920x1080. I am using an Athlon 2500+ and offloading some of the MPEG2 decode work to a geforce 6200 via XvMC (unfortunately ATI's drivers don't have XvMC) and i still use 50% CPU when watching HD. With CPU opts turned off i bet you i couldn't watch HD (no i'm not doing a recompile of mythtv and 10 recordsing tonight to find out)

    mythtv is just linux softwre - those distros are just rolls of their parent distros with mythtv bundled and tuned as it doesn't normally come bundled.

    if you're going to watch HD it's best to compile it yourself so it can do the most cpu optimizations (make sure to enable them via the appropriate configure flag)

    Recently the free listings provider for north america (TMS' Zap2it) annouced they will be going offline on Sept 1 - a replacement ($5/month for now, hopefully reducing to $20/year in the future - schedulesdirect.org) is available but only the latest release .20.2 of stable (And -fixes and trunk in snv naturally) support using it.

    If you download one of these distros make sure they have updated it with a .20.2 (post mythfilldatabase scheduling fix) otherwise you will not be able to get north american listings.

    any tuner device supported by linux should be usable with mythtv so if you find a USB tuner with linux support you can use it

    it is supposed to be the tuning and decryption module provided to consumers to allow them to use their premium digital cable services, including all HDTV (because pretty much nobody broadcasts unecrypted QAM). It was mandated a decade ago and CableLabs has figured out how to delay a decade and when they finally make it available they don't even comply to the law because it cannot really be used by anyone making home-brew systems.

    that study, if you look into it, has some serious methodology issues. But even if it is correct - condoms are still far more effective, much cheaper, and don't irreversibly alter your anatomy.

    How hard is it to admit that "modifying the genitals of a child is not ok"?
