It's simple, I've said it before:

Buy XBOX. They've lost millions already, and they're losing more running these servers for games. It's predicted they'll pull even -maybe- in 2005. Maybe. While you're supporting it, play PSO with voice, and many other great games. HALO 2 online? I'm there.

So, great games, hellacious online system, and forcing MS to lose millions. I don't see the downside :)

I just had a conversation with my girlfriend, who is somewhat freaked by this. What if human thumbs get larger and more versatilve due to the mind prjecting them as a more important appendage?

My first thought was, at least the XBOX has controllers perfectly made for their hands....

I say go ahead, buy XBOX! I'll tell you why my friend.

As long as M$ keeps cranking these puppies out, they're losing massive money until 2004, when they will release XBOX2, most likely another hardware monster that will not recoup it's manufacturing costs in sales.

If they cut their losses now, they won't get to enjoy all that wonderful debt they will incur. Sure, it's probably a drop in the bucket, but every little bit counts.

Name the latest game you actually replayed? Barring Tony Hawk-esque games, for me that would be FF7. Wow.

I give the console industry another year to actually crank out a good replayable plot game.

Yes OS X is based off FreeBSD, but please, to say that FreeBSD is a Linux-killer is a bit of a stretch. OS X is FreeBSD for macs. Think about that for a second. I'm personally trying to keep a straight face :D

As A Mandrake User...

It's great to hear the wonderful reviews of it. Please, if you dload the ISOs, at least join the Mandrake Club if you continue to use it. I have the 8.1 powerpack and I'm quite happy with it, and it's so good to hear that the next upgrade is going over so well. I am curious however about when/if Mandrake will incorporate KDE3 as SuSe is apparently releasing their 8.0 with it. I will definitely buy that upgrade when it comes as it seems that KDE is doing a wonderful job as well. Well, enough with the arse kissing, back to learning shell scripting.... -Archan

I have to agree with a couple of posts here. One, yes I personally can't stand the slower speed of GNOME, but as of right now, that's the only thing keeping me on KDE. KDE is faster, but GNOME has the programming tools to make more exciting programs on it. Speed up GNOME, and KDE has a worthy challenger.

Either way, keep the competition going, choice is a great thing, hell, lets get a third project started here!

And to imagine M$ actually releases propaganda that says having a choice of desktops is a bad thing... heh.
