A better (but still flawed) example would be: suppose that you give your old, run-down Mustang to a poor college student. He puts a lot of hours in it and shapes it into a true hotrod. What would you think of him selling it for a decent figure?
Too bad I can't get a copy of that hotrod's source code and compile my own, right?
Funny, I just bought a Fat Boy Slim CD, and that wasn't bad pop. Come to think of it, neither is Bjork. If all you buy is NSync, whose fault is it, really?
Yeah, but the friggen Java download is 6 MB's! (So I've heard.) That's nothing for corporate users on broadband connections, but when you're trying to appeal to Joe Consumer...
Are we talking about the same people who download mp3s off of Kazaa?
I like to think that all the angry letters from fans (mine included) had something to do with this. Oh, and yes, Second Impact is Japanese only - i'm learning the language, and anime is a decent gauge of progress
Speaking of character development, I just want to say that Shinji is the only protagonist that i actually want to strangle.
Also, am I the only one who found the english language visual edits jarring and disruptive? It was enough to make me forsake the rest of the DVD series and go buy the Second impact box set from Gainax
Last I heard, they needed multiple titles (i think 6) from third parties or else 2 from them in order to profit. Seeing as how they spent so much effort forcing 3 game bundles, the number may be 3, or else they may have seen the futility of forcing a 6 game bundle when they had 20 total.
I think Sony hasn't dropped their prices because M$ will probably follow their lead
Sony already dropped their prices - before launch, the price was going to be something like $400. There was some sort of stink at a press conference over this and the head guy there (may have been the CEO) dropped the price by $100 on the spot
Where does FFFish say that George Soros is at all obligated to provide this service? He merely noted that Mr. Soros is able to provide great good at no impact to his lifestyle and chooses not to.
The rest of the nerds are so upset that they decide they can't go on, so they throw themselves off the top of the exodus building. This causes a massive earth quake that shakes the exodus building so badly it completely destroys all of the slashdot servers, causing the end of all these stupid april fools day jokes!

Just for comparison's sake, my car (a 2000 MR2 Spyder) rates mileage of 25/30 and 138hp. It's also considerably more fun than, say, a Kia
Most server boards lack AGP and have multiple 64-bit PCI slots. Also, i've never seen an AGP riser.
That may get you in trouble with IT - they usually take a dim view of users reinstalling their workstations.
Just because he won't be incriminated in a court-martial doesn't mean that the threat of court-martialing him won't drive him to action.
My understanding is that obeying an unjust order can lead an officer to court martial. Sometimes there is no good way out of a bad situation.
File trading came first, then CD sales dropped
Actually, CD sales dropped, then Napster happened and Cd sales came back up
After that, Napster got shut down and CD sales dropped again.
Correlation may not be causation, but this sorrelation is fairly suapicious
the entire industry is bad pop

It's based on a classic SF novel by Robert Heinlein.
You mean it's based on the back of a classic SF novel by Robert Heinlein, right?.

Heard that Gainax was very angry with this too

I thought the only people on IRC were FBI agents pretending to be 14 year old girls. There are hackers there, too?
Yeah, there are also 14 year old girls pretending to be FBI agents.

Yes, isn't it odd that people prefer to buy domestic products. It's not like people buy Fords just because they're American, right?

Yeah - two Athlon 1.4MP warheads
If you have an Athlon, just jiggle the fan off and watch the thing in real life!
I guess that makes my motherboard a MIRV...
forced bussing to desegregate schools! (And all of you in the Cleveland area in the 80s know how that went...)
Is that where the school districts bussed a whole bunch of black people across the city to mostly white neighborhoods in the name of diversity?
the public will not pay for the privelege of watching commercials.
You already do. The US public pays more than the advertisers do to get commercials to them.
sure it does - that's why you're required to have a shielded case around your PC

Yes, but there's got to be a downside.
NOBODY'S VCR would ever flash "12:00" again
Already here. Whenever my power goes out, my VCR flashes --:-- for a couple minutes before picking up some time signal off of broadcast TV.
So what would you tell someone when you have to take a pee.
Excuse me, I have to go reboot the router
Just for the dense (and Solaris-ignorant), this basically means that /tmp is backed by ram. Full /tmp = no ram. No ram = no connections.
