the war didn't start yet. After all, linux is growing and I doubt we'll ever see IE for it. There are many other reasons of course but to make my point more concise-we're just beginning to truly understand what computers can do for us, especially since most people don't even have computers in the first place
I doubt it. We really _needed_ gecko for the standards support developers wanted. This is just an example of thinking ahead for mozilla. Javascript 2.0 is also in the works. btw, IE4 came a few months after NS4 too. Also, we have (hehehe) AOL
see if it can pass the PHB test! anyway, you can't say the test is passed until the PHB (or mom) can install linux, play around with it and change the graphics card (assume someone else opened the pc and inserted the card)
all the major record companies (sony, warner, etc) have signed up with IBM-not MS. They are going to be the ones who drive the audio market because MS is nothing in the music world
btw I'm not knocking off the _real_ linux developers-just the linux wannabes who think they are just because they were able to download compile and play around with M4 which is only meant for real developers.
i'm getting tired of all these blokes who complain that this has bugs. Of course it has bugs-it's pre-beta for crying out loud! It's as if none of you "linux developers" never saw pre-beta code before. So instead of complaining and whining let's be a little bit more constructive here, ok? Mozilla is everyone's browser now
non-newbies also need a choice too. Please don't turn all OS's into newbie OS's. I think newbie's need an alternative to Windows but that doesn't mean we should dumb down unix -hurting those who love unix the way it is now- just to give newbies that choice.
Just check out Neoplanet's website http://neoplanet.com/research.htm
NeoPlanet would also like to thank Adam Locke for his contribution to the Mozilla effort. NeoPlanet used Adam's Active-X wrapper for Gecko as the basis for creating the NeoPlanet Active-X wrapper. NeoPlanet plans to post this updated Active-X control to Mozilla.org shortly
are even cooler. http://www.theregister.co.uk/990413-000018.html I guess Apple realized that Be made the right move by switching to more open intel hardware
if you like MS apps then use Windows. People come to linux because they want an alternative to MS. Not all of them want to put up with a cli. We won't need MS Office if Wordperfect can read.doc files. Don't need IE because there's Netscape. Quicken-yes there's a need for that.
does netscape run from a cli (ala lynx)? Nope. It uses a gui. Well if you're going to use a gui in your apps then you might as well use a gui to access them. It takes me half a second to click on the netscape icon on the side of my screen

Penguins don't have 4 legs. They have _wings_ Think about it :)

good enough for me. just get the darn thing to work please

I'd like to see a proposal for what _we_ should do if MS _wins_ the trial

maybe after AOL comes to linux :)

MS will die if they have to give Office for free. It's where they get their $$$ from. Besides, Corel is giving WP for free anyway :)
hmm KDE, GNOME, Openstep, CDE and maybe Berlin?
Proof? search for yahoo in lycos and see what you get!
no I'm no fan of intel but at least you can buy intel-based pc's from many vendors.
yeah but we're talking about 64 bit chips from intel-not x86 Pentium III's.

"Linux is only free when your time has no value." -jwz Now I'm sure alot of linux programmers will code on mozilla just to get back at jwz! :)
