    Until the federal government can pass even a single independent audit (ha!), it should take its sticky dirty fingers off the industry and leave us alone. Let the market decide on whether AOL/Time Warner is good for consumers. And yes while Microsoft sucks in so many ways, the split was ill-advised. Fortunately it now appears that Microsoft will win on appeal anyway

    you can't get alot of things for linux or other operating systems. Does that mean it's ok to illegally open the source of say Photoshop so that it could be brought to linux or freebsd or BeOS or qnx or whatever?

    how in the world is a command line intuitive when you don't even know what the commands are -you just see a cursor (usually preceded by a $). A gui lets you show what you can do and how to do it without forcing you to read a manual. That's not to say command lines are bad-they offer tremendous flexibility when you need it. But 90% of the time I just want to get my work done and don't need the extra flexibility-a gui makes everything much faster (read: easier)

    yeah but the 2D performance of this new card is worse than the g400 max. Either they are taking a step backwards or doing a celeron/duron (hmm no wonder why the 2 stories were put together)

    there is no question that governments are more powerful than any corporation. they should get their dirty slimy meddlesome hands out of business unless they are cheating and defrauding the consumer.     AMD's chips are cheaper and faster than intel's but for a while at least intel was able to say "we're more reliable-we use less power". Now they can't say that anymore-we've seen the 1.13 ghz overclocked P !!! fiasco, this latest news about the Pentium 4 and don't forget that the itanium will also be a toaster-you may need an 800 watt supply for that one (ouch!). On the other hand, AMD is doing the right thing-their next gen athlon will take up less power than before

    I think Sun gains most of all with gnome. they get all the advantages of open source yet unlike linux, they have one standard UI. Developers won't have to develop for gnome, kde or whatever

    fortunately AMD shares tech with Alpha, IBM and Motorola so next year you'll see 2 Ghz processors, multiple cpus on one die and copper fabs 9that one is done). Plus SSE 2 for all you simd lovers

    well with th geforce 2 ultra giving you 60 fps at 1600X1200 32 bit color...not sure why you'd need Quake to run faster than that...
