for all the good NASA/space exploration has done for us, i have always believed that we need to focus at least the same amount of resources on exploring the ocean. i'm more than certain that there will be some significant gains in doing so...
For those of you who don't know, the company behind Pegasos is focused on creating the ultimate "geek" machine.
makes you wonder how the original BeBox would do in today's market, what with it's geek port and all...not to mention that it would prolly be using dual PPC 7400s or 970s...
after looking at MSN's "linux" search results, it looks like they're organized with "featured sites" listed first, which are presumably microsoft "partners". this is followed by "sponsored sites" [ie, paid spots]...only then do you get to the "web directory sites", which i'm assuming most people doing a search are looking for...MS has no chance in the search arena until they stop giving such obvious priority to money...of course, we know that that will never happen...
Does anyone else find this new interface Microsoft is leaning towards as being a eye sore? God the huge buttons and bright colors.
honestly, i wouldn't mind the big buttons if they were designing this for a purely touch-screen interface...however, it seems more like they're designing em so that gramma doesn't click on the wrong button...
dood! did anyone here actually read the short writeup? nowhere in there does it mention PDAs, MP3s, etc. i could see something like this totally replacing those crappy walkietalkie/giant 1-way cell phone things that the smithsonian has been using for decades. wouldn't it be nice to have a little fact sheet come up when yer staring at some work of art while listening to a short monologue on the piece? or shit, if they made a GRE practice test for the thing i'd rather use that then the crappy prog the GRE folks have available on their website...learn to think of other uses, rather than the ones that you already know of...
H*R is a site that everyone should spend hours playing with...most of the cartoons have easter eggs in em giving you games to play, extra scenes, and other general oddities...plus it's all just funny as hell...start with some of the more recent SB emails, the shorts and then move up to the cartoons...
wtg the brothers chap!
do you go hooray 4 dolphins? i do.
But, um, is it crap we really want to keep anyway? I mean, history and time has a way of filtering crap out that isnt worth much and preserving that which is.
hmmm, must be why there are tons and tons of historical documents going back tens of thousands of years...oh yeah, and i guess all that bookburning and religios zealotry and wotnot falls into the "filtering crap" category...:-p
so lets see...for a thousand bucks i can buy a smart display, for which i'll also need to have a constantly running winxp pro machine with wifi card...or for a thousand bucks i can buy a low end ibook and take the 200 bucks i would've used on xp pro to buy an airport card and a wifi router...hmmm...i think i know where my money would go...too bad i already have the ibook/wifi setup...

i've always preferred a nice cup of no tea...

y'know, the more i hear from SCO, the more i believe their side of the story...maybe they really do own everything *nix...
can we call it a repeat even if it's "new"?
what sort of results would we get if we ran michael jackson's skull through it?

I wish they would make it keyboard navigatable. That little tidbit would make it a perfect interface.
it is. you need to enable keyboard access under the keyboard pref pane > full keyboard access. the controls are even customizable.
What two things go better together than Star Wars and sex?
:-/
Linux and sex. Duh.
shows what i know...i would've answered linux and star wars...
the submitter forgot to mention that you'll need to give them your telephone number and zip code to view these... :-p
Anyone remember "Hey good lookin we'll be back later to pick you up"??? Mr. Microphone did this 3 decades ago, albeit using AM instead of FM...
