We're supposed to belive there's nothing on a 2nd gen viper that is sensitive to EMP. Starbuck shakes off a EMP pulse when more advanced Vipers fail. They explained that it wasn't an emp. It was a virus that was introduced into the computer systems by number 6 while she was working for Baltar. The Mk2 viper never had Baltars navigation softare installed.

But ok, lets assume I take you seriously, if these pills are the key to concentration, why arent they over the counter?

Because, despite their helpfulness to some people, the drugs are not safe without a doctors supervision.

Also, have you seen someone without ADHD take ritalin or another amphetamine based drug? It does not calm a regular person down. They become extremely hyped up.

  5. Re:Theres no scientific proof for any of this. on Working with ADHD? · · Score: 2, Informative

Actually, there is scientific proof that ADHD exists. Research done by Dr. Russell Barkley, Dr. Sam Goldstein,Drs. Gabrielle Weiss and Lily Hechtman, and Dr. Joseph Biederman have shown that there are chemical imbalances in the brain that are the cause of ADHD.

Its the SAME kinda problem, I consider ADHD a personality trait. Just like short temper is a personality trait, and manic depression is a personality trait.

I would really like to hear your definition of a personality trait.

Ritalin works by slowing the brain function down. How do you figure your brain is sharper by doing this? This is equal to taking a 64bit CPU, and running 32bit software in an attempt to filter out "bad" data which you consider "junk" or not u seful to keep the CPU more focused on a single task of say crunching random numbers.

Your CPU analogy doesn't really cut it in this instance. The medication allows people to focus on one activity instead of having their concentration bounce all over the place. It does not slow down their ability to process information.

My question to you is why that animosity towards ADHD. I am not saying that people aren't misdiagnosed all the time with ADHD, but some people are really helped out by the medication they are taking. But if you don't have ADHD, then you don't understand the difference.

Take this idea even farther by making the app a P2P archiver. What I mean is that the app tracks what users have downloaded. They share those files. If you are on the local P2P network, then when you want a big file, search the distributed client first. If someone has it, you don't even have to use internet bandwidth

Usually, when a band or some guy wants to do a recording, they rent studio time to record. The studio pays for the equipment, not the people recording. The recording equipment comes with the studio time. The cost of recording is just like the cost of running a server. The bigger you are, the bigger you want your equipment to be. However, if you don't have a lot of money, you can get by with a PC running linux.

I think that Redhat's idea of making desktop more like XP is fine. If we want to migrate more people into the Linux world, they have to be given an interface that they recognize. Those of us that already know Linux can change what we want. That is one of the beauties of Linux, the infintessimal possibilities the OS has for each person that uses it.

I graduated from Furman a year ago and can tell you from experience that they are using the packetshaper at that school. The reason I know is that I worked for the IT department as a support technician while I was a student. The problem at Furman is that the device is not set up correctly. For some reason, it slows down all traffic at Furman. The problem at furman illustrates the problems that a poor admin can cause.
