Cahoot Online bank also provide a similar service, in this case they call it the webcard. You can generate a credit card with a restricted credit limit, which is then valid for up to 2 months. I use this for each online transaction and have started doing it for telephone transactions too.

I had thought up until now that Cahoot was alone in this field, but it looks like other banks may well be catching onto the idea that their customers do not actually want to be scammed by companies abusing their CC information.

Cahoot accounts might only be available to UK residents but i'm not 100% sure.

  20. Re:Bootleggers are paying? on Investigating Online Movie Piracy? · · Score: 5, Insightful

This is one of the things that really annoys and gets my goat every time I see it.

People selling pirated movies and music at car boot sales, markets, roadsides, ebay, etc. This is totally wrong and I think is what the RIAA/MPAA should target and not joe bloggs downloading britney spears from kazaa.

The people selling this stuff are not only tax dodgers, but are often taking the customers for a ride, some people often mistake these copies for the real thing and are buying in good faith, only to find out they have been ripped off by a shoddy inkjet printed jewelcase inner and an un-stickered cd-r costing next to nothing.

What irritates me further, is that some people are also under the impression that those who do download for their own PERSONAL use are looked upon in the same league as those who download, copy, and sell to people for huge profits.

Well in that case I call my GP32 into play. It has an ARM7 cpu which can be overclocked to 155mhz+, 8mb onboard ram and up to 128mb storage via smart media cards.

I have 3 128MB smart media carts, all filled with emulators and roms. That makes a good 5000+ gameboy [color], atari2600, arcade, pc-engine, neogeo pocket, atari st, atari 800, commodore 64, spectrum, commdore 16/plus4.. TO NAME BUT A FEW. you can see all of these and download them at GP32EMU or other sites found by google ;)

Most if not all of these run at damn near full speed, no need to swap memory cards or any of that old jazz. Tons of great games in your pocket and the memory cards are light and take up no space.

Add to that, the fact that is a completely open system which you can develop for without paying any fees, just simply downloading the FREE sdk.
