    I've always had good luck with WD, and found Maxtor to be unreliable. I've also seen /. posters claim that Maxtor is the shit and WD is just shit.

    Originally (1930s), it was criminalized due to fears of mexican immigrants/gangs would smoke Mari[jh]uana and rape white women. That's the same rationale for criminalizing cocaine (but with blacks, not mexicans).

    froogle used to have a format where you could provide all that information to them. Same with google base. (I think you could either provide them with a URL that generated the data or upload the data through their website).

    Safari isn't tied into the OS, but safari is basically a wrapper over WebKit, which is a part of the OS and something some other apps depend on. That's not terribly unlike Windows/IE/MSHTML or KDE/QT/Konquorer/WebKit.

    The EU already made them offer Windows without MS Media Player. I've heard (on slashdot, fwiw) consumers don't prefer the bundled version.

    Last week or so, slashdot seemed to introduce ajax on the index2.pl front page. It doesn't work on the iphone/ipod touch -- the front shows the top banner and the bottom copyright banner, with no articles in between. Well, maybe I can go the the preferences page and make a few tweaks... nope. You can't actually update your preferences in mobile safari.

    If you want to see slashdot stories and you're unfortunate enough to be stuck with the index2.pl, you need to go to the search page for a listing.

    Epic failure, guys.

    Yes... with the government involvement, their directive is no longer "to make money" but "do what we tell you to do". For banks, that means everyone should be able to own a home, even if they can't afford it. For GM/Chrysler, that means building green/ethanol vehicles (even if nobody wants them anymore).

    If you did a comparison of the BAC/breathalyzer under different scenarios, you'd find the breathalyzer gave a lot of false positive. Burp and the results will be wrong. Gargle with mouthwash and the results will be wrong. vomit and the results will be wrong.

    They don't need source code for the laboratory equipment. When they draw blood, they keep a sample that you can have tested in your own laboratory. When you breath into a machine, there's no evidence whatsoever, except for a printout (or a number the officer wrote down).
