    It doesn't fit into the sensationalist summary, but Mac OS 1 included desk accessories in 1984. Dashboard (and Konfabulator) are an updated version of that concept.

    Yeah... "Open" had a meaning before "Open Source" -- Open Software Foundation (OSF), The Open Group (Unix), OpenVMS, OpenBSD, OpenGL, Open Database Connectivity (ODBC). At least it's not as bad as "Free".

    You failed it. Offtopic? Hardly. Like many other google projects, Knol is probably going to be a quiet failure (much like wiki's attempts at searching). And quite frankly, the example was stupid. If an academic type writes a large article on wikipedophilia, he still retains his rights over that text and can republish (dual license) it elsewhere. He can't reuse other people's contributions, but since they should be properly cited, he can refer to the original source and update his own text accordingly.

    I heard about this a couple weeks ago. Anyhow, the texas filing deadline was before the national conventions, but both parties filed paperwork on time with blank names and amended them afterwards (which is allowed by law). I thought this had already been dismissed, but it's going nowhere.

    If he was admitted into harvard and given the law review position due to affirmative action, they do. But I guess the articles he wrote for the law review speak for themselves. What's that? He didn't write anything? Well, I'm sure he's written some important legislation in the Senate. Like a stamp honoring Rosa Parks. Well, maybe he's too busy writing autobiographies and running for president for stuff liek that.

    If you want oracle's features on smaller databases (and a smaller cost), try postgresql (or FireBird). They're not oracle, but they are a step up from MySQL or SQL Server.

    The PS3's cell chip is 8 core with 1 turned off (or defective) to increase yield. If they have to turn off 2 cores, that's not very reassuring.
