That's too funny. Why does soda use high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar? Because the government instituted sugar import quotas. The price went up and industrial users switched over to corn syrup. Corn and the rest of big agriculture is subsidized by the government.

But it doesn't stop there - who created the food pyramid, nutrition labels, etc? Again, the government. Not to benefit to you and me but to benefit the food industry and big agriculture. The stuff that goes on -- with government approval -- at factory farms and slaughterhouses is disgusting. But the government would rather crack down on organic farmers selling a bottle of unpasteurized milk across state lines.

Do they stand out because they have better hardware? Any manufacturer can throw together the exact same components (Samsung will even sell them to you). Or is it because they have better advertising and better deals with the TelCos? The networks are the people that choose which phones you can choose from, after all.

Not only that, the OP has no understanding whatsoever about corporate donations. Corporations are limited to $2500 per candidate, same as a person. PACs and party committees can give $5,000 so being libertarian puts him at a disadvantage there.

Maybe he means Citizens United. Those aren't donations, they're independent expenditures and aren't counted as a donation (and you as an individual aren't limited, either).

Dyson spheres are an interesting thought experiment but fairly stupid when you think about the logistics (as mentioned in previous comments, so I won't get into it). At least on our scale. Just as elctrons orbit the nucleus, moons orbit planets, planets order stars, stars orbit the galaxy center, galaxies orbit the giant turtle and form supergalxy clusters... There's no reason to say intelligent life composed of cells composed of molecules and atoms couldn't also exist at a larger scale. (Ask the symbiotic bacteria in your gut sometime). And intelligent life at a larger scale certainly could biuld a dyson sphere. Hell, maybe we are part of the dyson sphere.
