Does government count? Because that's where all the union growth is coming from. I guess the government (local, state, and federal) is mistreating and abusing workers. Who knew.

California doesn't tax for shipping if it's the actual/pass-through shipping cost (and you keep records). "shipping and handling" is taxable, though. Fairly stupid, but then again Amazon has free shipping with a $25 order which is about what the world's small violin costs.

You can adjust your W4 form to increase or decrease the amount taken out of your paycheck. The IRS has a withholding calculator that you might want to look into.

You can also structure your life (mortgage, charitable donations, tax-exempt bonds, stabbing your self in the eyes to go blind, etc) for tax purposes if you want. Maybe you don't want to but then again, most businesses don't take advantage of all the tax credits and loopholes either, only the massive ones that can afford the bean counters and former IRS agents to make it possible (like, say, GE paying a 0% rate in the US).

I think we should go all the way here. Let's be honest -- social security and medicare are not going to be there for us and who wants to be old anyway? I propose that at age 65 (or perhaps earlier as needed) all men be issued two bottles of viagra, a key of pure (98% minimum) Colombian flake cocaine, and a week's worth of services from three strippers.

The advantages should be obvious -- it's cheaper for everyone and certainly more enjoyable. What better way to die than while high as a kite and busting a nut inside a foxy coed? Certainly beats spending months in a hospital bed hooked up to a machine.
