    I think trollaxor has the full story on his site. the short version is, Bendover.net (or maybe it was VA Lunix?) were going to have a contest and gave away the /. PT Cruiser. There was an incident at the geek compound, the car was impounded, the contest was canceled. For a while, anyone posted about it was hit with bitchslap.pl.

    IntEl was involved with ARM at the turn of the century -- StrongARM/XScale. They acquired it from DEC (as part of a patent settlement) in 1998 and eventually sold it off to Marvell in 2006.

    A couple weeks back, I read an old article by RMS concerning GPL exemptions/dual licensing. He supports it.

    GPL with exemptions is really BSD. A finer grained control, perhaps, in that the copyleft owner can pick and choose. Put a price on whoring out FREEdom. FREEdom? More like "show me the money!".

    For multiple reasons. But consider this:

    Remember melamine? Somebody discovered that you can water down your milk, add some melamine, and profit. So melamine milk goes in baby formula and dog food.

    Let's say you have a dog or a baby. You buy a bag of dog food/baby formula, and that's all they eat for a month or two, until you run out and buy the next bag. And if it's got melamine, now you have a dead dog. Or a dead baby.

    Variety is the spice of life, folks. If you eat nothing but soylent, you will die. I can't live with that.

    Dice devop here. We've been testing ShapeShifter to reduce dupes and it works quite well. This is actually a story about the new paging algorithm in Linux 3.1.6-rc. Shapeshifter noticed it was a dupe and turned it into a barely coherent word salad. If anybody knows how to configure this thing to produce better content, we're hiring -- check the dice.com job board to apply.

    Backend is node.js. It doesn't block, which makes it faster. Python, ruby, perl, C all have blocking i/o. (C can do asynchronous i/o but it's a pain and you have to be smart to get it right). node lets any mouth-breathing retard write non-blocking code. That makes it faster. Also, SQL is obsolete. Just store everthing as json and use Array.filter, Array.map, etc. It doesn't block which makes it faster.
