gcc 4.6 is almost obsolete at this point. 4.7 is the minimum if you want half-decent c++11 support (The 11 means 2011, ie the spec was finalized almost 3 years ago after 8 years of deliberation). GCC 4.6 is almost 3 years old. GCC 4.7 is almost 2 years old. Is it acceptable to wait 3 years for 0-day exploits to get fixed? Is it acceptable to wait 3 years for a compiler that doesn't suck ass?

Good call. Maybe the NSA should infiltrate open source projects and make sure there aren't any terrorists. They'll need to gain trust by spending a few years fixing bugs and adding new features.

Also, even though the NSA is watching my online activity and phone calls/location, they can't always tell what I'm doing offline. I suggest they assign two or three girlfriends to monitor me. I like nerdy mathematical types so I'm sure they can find someone. I'm usually more talkative after mind-blowing sex, so it will work out good for both of us.

I think you're overestimating the current supreme court. They're punters (literally) in that they prefer to punt on any issue before them. Usually copouts include lack of standing and defering to other branches of government. Ever seen a movie where a couple well hung stubs double penetrate a woman while her small-dicked cuckold husband watches helplessly? (Don't lie -- the NSA knows). Well, the woman is us, getting fucked by congress and the president while the supreme court does nothing.

I imagine a massive influx of new kernel developers. Let's be honest -- most gamers will probably tweak and recompile their kernel to eek out a few cycles of improvements on tcp, memory allocation, graphics performance, context switching etc. Some of them will probably keep their patches to themselves (it's all about the frags) but some will probably get involved. I just hope Linus and other maintainers can avoid being total douchebags.
