But what if you plan your lie ahead of time, convincing yourself (somewhat) that it's the truth. You wouldn't have to think too hard if you have the lie memorized.
Frankly I'm amazed that movies caught on before TV since there's so much more TV, and they tend to be smaller files than movies.
I think it's worth pointing out that a movie is about 700mb to download. If you're watching a decent TV series where you want all the episodes, it's probably about 5-6gb per season. Movies are clearly much smaller than TV when you think about it.
You're kinda skipping out on the people who are sort of interested in the topic of FOSS but aren't advocates.
For example, I watch all sorts of shows on the Outdoor Life Network or Discovery, including shows like Killer Instinct and Crocodile Hunter, but I don't go out looking for wild animals.
and that guy who never says anything is a CIA bot.
Hmm.. I should stop idling in so many channels. Maybe if I put some sort of message on a timer that does "/me is not a CIA bot". Yeah.. I think that'll do just fine.
I see nothing wrong with learning Perl first (other than the fact I tell everybody they shouldn't touch Perl with a ten-foot pole). Perl was one of the first languages I got into and it's very easy to get started. Sure, there's twenty different ways to do things and things can get really complicated and complex, but if you're just beginning programming you're not gonna be doing the hard stuff.
Using Perl is a good way (as good as anything else) to get accustomed to programming constructs and variables.
As for learning HTML first.. well that's not even a programming language and wouldn't teach you a thing about programming. PHP would be a good one, but you have to know a little HTML first. (Sorry if that's what you meant by HTML, PHP).
Yeah, I hear "crime scene unit" being mentioned a lot, especially in SVU. Most of the time it's "the CSU came back with the blah-blah analysis" or "the CSU said this-and-that", and there's not much actual interaction with the CSU. Of course, L&O was never about interaction with the CSU.
I agree totally. I'm a big fan of the original CSI, but Caruso really ruins Miami for me (I wasn't really a fan of Emily Procter, but she's hot so I eventually warmed up to her.. or maybe they changed her character enough to suit me). I've only seen one or two CSI: NY so I can't really form an opinion on it, but from what I've seen I like it better than Miami.
Showcase (a Canadian channel) has some really funny CSI commercials where regular people solve regular mysteries, like "who kicked the photocopier". Showcase has 2 eps back to back every weekday, they always show the commercials during that time.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the original CSI's wear firearms. When I saw that they had firearms in Miami I almost started laughing (or was it crying?).
Indeed. I'd really like to get a hold of the filter that lets them turn 6 pixels into a licence plate. Do you think it would be available for The GIMP?
Well, CSI does show some interaction between the CSI's and the detective, but it's clearly not a realistic portrayal. The CSI's do more questioning than the actual detective, and if Law & Order has taught me anything it's that the detectives do the questioning.. at least until the second half of the show when the ADA's step in.
Unless, of course, you live on the far side of an airport and they can't get clearance to fly across it. In that case (assuming they had to fly all the way around the world the other way) your pizza would take about 3.5 hours to arrive.

An installer? That's crazy. I better have to compile it before I use it.
Yes, but if you "plan your lie" before they test you, you don't have to do any thinking during the test.

I think you misinterpreted him (as I did the first time I read the sentence). He's saying that those shows are the "throw away" stuff or "most of TV".
Slashdot had an article on this last week.
Yes

No, it's not "like" that. It's exactly that.
Uh-oh.. I sure hope it's not sending an email for every hit it gets.. we'll slashdot his email as well.
Eee.. I bet that guy's fired.
Actually, it's already called the GNU GPL so it would be renamed to the GNU GNU/GPL.
That's easy.. go to the next--er.. wait.. 30 games from now--Pacers game.
As long as automake and autoconf aren't software tools of the future, I'll be happy.
I'd like to see more projects moving towards SCons or jam.
Not to mention key chain cameras. Those things are small and blend in quite nicely with a set of keys.

I think you mean findhash.com

Still better than some places I've ordered from.
