Wanted to see the pics, so I took the time to set up a complete mirror, content and all. The server seems to be quite a bit better now, but it's still buckling under the load.
Word. It would be nice to have a cable connection as well to route bulk data through...1.5mbps just isn't enough these days. The sub-20ms latencies, static IPs, sane AUP and decent upstream keep me on DSL though, and I can't afford to dual home my house.
The data are recreated by doing simple binary math with the remaining disks and the parity information. It uses all of the working disks to rebuild the missing one, not just the parity.
Right, like there are viruses (that can infect Thunderbird) that don't have to be saved as a file before they can infect your machine. Your virus scanner scans created files right?
I've never understood the point of e-mail virus scanners. They're nothing but a source of problems.
This works fine (on Gentoo), however then GRUB can't be used with the keyboard. It's rather annoying trying to remember how I got my keyboard to work whenever I install a new distro on this machine.
Yes, but the bios itself would refuse to state that it was a DMA device. I tried it on several machines and couldn't get it to start in DMA mode, so I just gave up:)
Mmm, I remember doing that to my Ricoh too. Had a few scares with poorly-patched firmwares (before I found that application that would ignore the product ID string), but flashing back to Ricoh's 7040 always worked fine. I doubt it was related, but I kept using it until something went wonky with it's IDE controller. One day it just stopped initializing in DMA mode. In PIO mode it used so much CPU that buffer underruns were rather common.
Really was the only reason I got a new burner a year ago...great drive that Ricoh was. I gave it my sister and she's happy to leave the computer alone while it's burning. It works pretty much 100% if you burn at 2x.
Ahh. Good times.

The same way you would with any other VFW video codec?
It's not particularly difficult, but I haven't used Premiere in ages so I can't really help you. Doom9 will give you good guidelines for configuring the codec properly, whether or not it is based on 'stolen' DVD content.
Many (mostly the more dangerous windy and snowy type) roads here have divots for the reflectors to sit in. That way when the ploughs come by, the reflectors don't get scraped off, but drivers can still see them. An additionaly expense, sure, but well worth it for roads like BCs Sea to Sky highway.
And just so you're aware, Gordian Knot is a set of automated scripts to help you configure the *real* tools at the backend: besweet, the xvid codec, and VirtualDub.
Start with AutoGK and move your way up as you learn more about the software.
The CBC is a good start. Lots of good material on their website, and a decent Canadian-centric alternative to the BBC for reasonably responsible news. Specifically, check out their Archives; tons of historical and modern TV articles, most with video footage for download.
There's also Canoe and canada.com (which I don't particularly like, so won't make a live link to).
One of the reasons I really despise Telus is their privacy policy.
A couple years back they implemented a transparent proxy for all http requests on their consumer DSL. When I phoned and asked about it, I was told that it would not, could not be disabled, and that they were indeed logging usage. Besides the privacy issues, it was a single point of failure, and every service outage I had with them was due directly to that proxy. I cancelled my account on the spot and found an independent DSL ISP that gives me much better service for the same money.
It's fine that they're forwarding complaints, but due to recent precedent, they should inform their users of the law instead of just scaring them into compliance.
LOL I like this. How often has it saved your ass?

Full mirror
Just used wget so the javascript won't work, but all the content is there.

Both are possible, just not at the same time ;)
Antenna gain is the same factor for RX as well isn't it?

If you bothered to RTFS, you'd see that it includes a Fedora Core 1 DVD.
How about Matthew Good's '21st Century Living' which is about Super Sizing life. Good song :P
And on the screening of POTC here, they appeared right in the middle of Jesus' face ;).
A point of entry?
I seem to remember reading about a couple of projects already trying something along those lines. The names escape me.
GO FLAMES GO!
Really is sad not to see Vancouver up there though...

Thanks for the info though.
Pressed VCDs are fairly common in Asia. Anime comes from Asia. Connect the dots.

Indeed. Couldn't they just use target="_blank" if they really wanted a new window? I may not like it, but at least it's easy to override.
You mean you can actually find what you're looking for on MSDN?
My god man, tell me your secret!
You mean you don't run an SSH server on your box?
Depending on attachment limits, it could be a handy storage space for those handy little must-have tools, however...for those without a USB key drive.
