Fair point. I didn't consider offline multiplayer, because I tend to play games to get away from people.:) I think the Lego games are pretty good about offline multiplayer, though. There're probably others out there as well.
Go with PC. If you're going to pay hundreds of dollars for a rig that effectively has no used-game market, you may as well at least get better graphics and backward compatibility to show for it.
Close. I think the specification is in there specifically to create a standard. I.e., iOS 7 won't be allowed on DOD networks until the designated approval authority has tested and approved it.
I fully agree. But the UI is more than an inconvenience -- it's something that I would have to relearn. So in addition to the monetary cost of buying the upgrade, I have to invest time and energy (a different and more valuable currency) as well.
I can sympathize. I lost the front bumper of a previous car in an accident where someone ran a red light. The fucked-up part is that he was the third car through the intersection, a good five seconds after I had the green arrow.
Any vehicle that's in an intersection when a light turns from yellow to red has the right-of-way until it can clear the intersection.
I'm glad you and your wife made it out of that alive (and hopefully unscathed), but if the other driver's light was in fact yellow when they entered, then your car shouldn't have been in that intersection. (More likely it wasn't and they tried to say it was yellow, in which case, fuck them and the horse they rode in on.)
That's all anybody cares about anyway, even these "free software" switches that some governments are doing focus purely on the cost savings compared to licensing software.
Generally a true statement right there. I appreciate the principles, but I care a lot more about the cost.
Not denying Windows 8 is improved -- from everything I've heard, it is, except for the gods-awful user interface. But that user interface is the show-stopper for me, because none of the bugs you mentioned affects my daily use of Windows 7. And I'm not going to pay to buy Windows 8, then pay more to fix a defect in the product as it was sold. That's just garbage.
It is quite amazing how many problems in Windows apps can be traced back to the anti malware suite.
Wait, iTunes is anti-malware? *Rimshot!*
Seriously, though, this isn't necessarily one program or the other, but a mixture of the two. To use a chemistry analogy, you can store bleach and ammonia in the same room, as long as you're careful not to mix them together...
That's nice, but Windows 7 works just fine. So why would I pay to upgrade to Windows 8, then pay more to remove functionality I don't want from the software?
There was a lot of work done on the light levels in the prize winner, but it is the same photo.
Sure, it's the same photo, but how did the photographer get light onto the right side of a man's face when the primary light source (the sun) was obscured? That would have required an off-camera flash, which is doable but uncommon.
Especially ironic given that Ingrid Newkirk takes insulin produced from animals.
If you're just now hearing about it, welcome to the party, you'll find the cookies and ice cream in the fridge downstairs.
FTFY.
The difference is that other shelters at least try to find homes.
Not PETA. They take in animals, and then they kill them. There's no intermediate step.
What's next? CNN asking viewers to do their journalism for them? Oh... wait...
In CNN's case, that was raising the standards, at least where things like accuracy are concerned.
It's not that hard to fool most reporters, unfortunately.

The summary didn't do a good job of explaining ...
That's pretty much any summary on /. ever.

... says someone with no experience in photography.
Way to miss the point. GP is referring to DAs' sometimes ridiculous overprosecution of cases, e.g. Aaron Schwartz.
Not before you (or someone else) can illustrate it. Because what I'm saying is that they both appear doctored.

I don't remember Microsoft ever charging money for a service pack, so I don't think that spin holds water.

It's still only free-as-in-beer.
I know, I know: "Whoosh." But the distinction is still kinda important, don't you think?
The language was softened from the original story so that if it turned out the photo wasn't faked, ExtremeTech won't get sued for libel.

... Is a go. Seriously, have the folks at the top levels never heard of the Streisand Effect?
Gives a whole new meaning to "Love Shack," let me tell ya ...
