Exactly my thought. One could simply add the whole DNS structure as a tree *above* the root directory of your system on UNIX systems. Would be very nice.
The triple slash actually is an error in an otherwise constant scheme. Because if you think as the// at the beginning as the root of the network, just like / at the beginning is the root of your UNIX file path, then it should be file:/[path], as long as it's a absolute path on your system, and file:[path] for relative ones.
Well, nowadays you recognize a noob by seeing how he wants to put a www in front of everything that hasn't one. I never used www subdomains for my servers. There's no point in it. What else should it connect to than a webserver? And if, then there are ports to solve that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your problem is that you buy into HER reality of what's wrong and right. Which already means you're not that great of a man, and her "other" choice. In a proper relationship, you'd define right and wrong, and she would think of you as a great man who knows what he wants and has his own reality. So some of those things would not be things you did wrong. And others would be things where you failed your own expectations. No need to punish you or make you feel bad for those, as you'll already do that yourself.
Unluckily, most men got so weak that their wives completely dominate them, and they just hope no to fall into disgrace.
Normal balance, with both partners being worth the same, and being in the male role, are foreign things to them.:(
Doesn't this joke originally have a third person? He is a mathematician, and dies inside the room. They find a piece of paper with him, with "Let's first assume I can reach the treasure/cake..." written on it.
In psychology, that's called "projection". It's a sign that the person itself can not let any thought of his own failure into his mind, despite him knowing and hating it, for fear of breakdown of the own reality. So he/she/it starts to project his repressed self-hatred onto others, to be able to let it out.
Basically they are beyond the point of no return where they hate their own stupid decision, far into the land of fear of total breakdown on confrontation, where all you can do is run with it until the bitter end, or hope you or someone else finds a rhetoric on tactic method that lets you get out without losing all self-respect.
It's a very human thing. Nobody can stand the total loss of the own reality. Most people would rather die. Seriously. You and me most likely too.
So I guess the best thing to do here, is offer the RIAA this way out. Something where they can go "We were in panic and forced to act that way. In reality we're good, kind, and right. And look how now we're even better for changing our ways." while the rest of the world goes "Yes little RIAA, I'm proud of you for becoming even better!" while secretly smiling because we all would know what really happened, and how we were the kind-hearted ones.
Wait until someone creates overlays for IQ, how religious people are, what they vote for, and how big their hypochondria is. My guess is statistically undeniable correlation. ^^
If some loony person comes up to you in strange 60s clothes, tells you that gravity is a lie, and the cake too, that the government has put canned laughter devices in all our brains, and that real free humans never laugh, do you believe them?
No. Of course not!! Because you know better! Your reality is stronger. Sure, you can't change theirs, because they're loonies. But you also don't care if you can. You walk past them and laugh at them.
This is the exact same thing. Don't actually buy into the talk of the crazy people!
Guys: Being in denial, closing your eyes, stamping your foot and yelling "NO! NO! NO!" does not mean that it's not existing! Put off the "treehugger happyworld of love peace and global harmony" reality distortion glasses once in a while, would you?
I AM a game designer, I HAVE integrated cheating and trolling players, and interestingly, nearly all the problem that others have, are gone! Trolls and cheaters are humans too! If you try to understand them, instead of being in denial, you can actually do something about it.
No, it's NOT. Stop spreading bullshit lies that you got fed day in and day out by the media reproduction and artist extortion industries.
UPloading something you have no license to upload, is something someone can sue you for. But downloading... what if someone claims to be a original distributor, and that he has the right to sell this to you without a license,so that you can do whatever you want with it? That's what every uploader implicitly does. It's not up to you to check their validity. And it's NOT EVER illegal to download something. You must understand shit about the internet to even be able to imagine something like that being possible. I mean, when you download something, you send a request to the other host. And THEY send you the packet. You don't "take" anything. They have to allow your request and then give it to you. It's not even your action when you get it. You just accept what's handed to you after your request.
Good luck you're an AC, because else you would get into trouble. I'd reveal your viral marketing and FUD work, and how you get payed for it. Because no free and healthy human would ever talk such an utter bullshit.
BitTorrent was a huge step back from Gnutella, which had no servers/trackers for that very reason. Also every protocol previous to BitTorrent had the peer finding and most importantly the search functions integrated. The only reason I ever used it, was because some dumb people started to prefer it for its speed (which was a direct result of it not being that safe against attacks) because they were unable to think one step ahead. And now they get what they deserve for it.
Maybe if you went a step backwards, and for obvious reasons failed... going back another step is perhaps not the best thing to do, isn't it? ^^
Wait for RapidShare to be the next one being shot like a huge elephant in a tiny corridor. Following their logic, I bet then they will go back to FTP. Which means that not some other company will get sued big time, but they themselves with their own servers will pop like flies in a fryer.
All the while, Gnutella, and modern, much more advanced networks, will still be there, laughing at them for the idiots they are.
Those sites aren't dead, you know! They are the breeding grounds for all kinds of different mutations, including the six-legged common redneckus monstrosius and the beautiful giant caterfly. How can you just sit there and plan building power plants on the homes of those poor mutants?
And really smart developers have integrated the cheating into the mechanics and — without the user knowing that — made it just another one of the ways of playing the game.
Because if in real life, you live a successful life and have many children, because you cheated... does it really matter that you didn't do it the "right" way? Evolution doesn't care.
Except they're in on the plot against us. ^^
Well, I wouldn't see a giant advertising company with a small appendage of a search engine and other experimental projects as "friendly". ^^
It's advertisement that's the base after all. Advertisement and good/honest are rather extreme opposites.
...as long as it's below 140 characters.
Just make sure you don't write multiple "tweets" and end up above the 7 lines, or Cardinal Richelieu will come and hang you.

Just like one slash at the beginning is for the root directory in an absolute path, two slashes are for the root of the network.
The only question is, why it's
[protocol]://[sub].[domain].[tld]/[path]...
instead of
[protocol]://[tld]/[domain]/[sub]/[path]...
But I guess that way you can separate what's a different server and what is not.
Only the file protocol has it wrong, because it's not the root of the network, when you write:
file:///[path]
It should be:
file:/[path]
But hey, nothing stops you from using your own syntax when you write software like a browser.
In fact, I'd love to see the net just becoming another part of the path of the "everything is a file" file system of UNIX machines.
Just hope that's not what she wants in the first place. :P
You mean theoretic metaphysics.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your problem is that you buy into HER reality of what's wrong and right. Which already means you're not that great of a man, and her "other" choice.

Well, I've seen torrent uploaders remove the logo from newly labled the shows before uploading them. So you're not the only one.
They only defend their gaming console of choice. ^^

Nah. In Sweden, when you want to see hot chicks, you just have to go outside. Even looking out the window might suffice. ^^
Yeah, but 4.13 flux-compensator-driven time travels would be easier to imagine.
That's how it looked like in Thunderbird's RSS reader.
Oh hell yeah I would! For the good of whole humanity, I don't foster retards. I handle them like everyone else. If they fail, they shall feel it.
