It is always a good iea to kep the robots out of anywhere there is sensitive information. i several methods for added security. robot.txt is a good way, but i also the deflecction technique in apache's mod_rewrite to keep the crawlers out.
What is the future of SCO Linux Licensing. Will large corporation fall for it, just to be on the safe side? Or are the corporation going to avoid using linux, till the final outcome of the saga.
Netware fully supports WebDAV protocol to access their file shares on the Netware Servers. They use mod_dav+Apache for providing the access. There is a elaborate GUI to control access.
I use Apache+mod_dav on a Linux server, which authenticates against a LDAP server. I dont use mod_digest, but I do everything over https:// so no need for mod digest.
We have been using this for last 2 years, wwithout any issues. Very successful too.

if you really wanna learn about securing linux, looking at the bastille script for securing linux is a good idea. you can go through the scrit and see what checks are being performed and things like that.
I can get the same using a XML DTD (e.g. DocBook), and any user can use any XML editor, without worrying about formatting/presentation. i m sorry i m unable to see the difference.
I m sure you will be able to purchases the CDs of the ISOs from other channels as well. For example some LUG sell downloaded ISO images on CDs for merely the cost of the media ($2-$5) and shipping.
Red Hat is provider for Linux OS for the Enterprises. They want to concentrate more on the RH 2.1 Advance Server, and not waste too much time on the retailing the distribution.
Moveover since the developers will be actually the one doing the packaging as well, Red Hat's job will become in including those packages in their ES/AS/WS distributions. Making the developer list open to all, will in-turn help them making their ES/AS/WS services better.
They want to be a service oriented company, rather than a product oriented. And this is the only Open Source Model that will survive.
Harvard publishes a magazine called "Harvard Business Review (HBR)". Previously they did not cover Linux/OpenSource. But recently I recently I read an in HBR that says Enterprises should look into OpenSource as a viable alternative to propritary products (specifically OpenOffice).
HBR is read by presidents/directors/managers, so it is interesting to see how the thinking is changing.
