    Anyway, learn Emacs. It makes it easy to write in multiple scripts, has HTML editing, heavy duty text manipulation tools and a kitchen sink.

    You Americans can wax poetically about "censorship" when I can see a nipple on the Superbowl without the whole country going "WTF we're all going to die!".

    Different cultures have different standards. I don't believe China's way is the best, but I'm not sure. And neither are you.

    Do you really think Google has to fight against opression? Why don't you start? Go and break the DMCA ina really visible way, and face the consequences. I mean, we all know it's an unjust law, right? So why are you abiding by it?

    From the article:

    Mark MacKay, owner of the WOW Gold Price List website, has condemned this practice in a statement which reads: "Over over 1.5 million World of Warcraft players are from China alone, with the majority of these players being non-English. While their has been recent publicity about the gold farm factories in China, it by no means justifies thinking that every Chinese or non-English speaking player is a gold farmer."

    Now, Mark MacKay does not sound like a Chinese name, but I'm having trouble believing that he's an English speaker.

    I checked the picture and read the "article". What we have is:

    -Laptop backpaks. Those are really sweet, and they were being given to each and every member of the press (I got one) and no one else.

    -PSP. As far as I can tell, they got those at a raffle or something like that, so I don't think it counts.

    -1 Gig of memory. That's what, 80 bucks now?

    Assorted trinkets, pens and crap. I don't think the lot of it goes for more than a hundred bucks.

    And you call that loot? Get a free plasma or PC, then write an article. OK?

    Say Apple makes a 100 bucks profit for every iMac sold (extremely simplified, but hey). Then you have support costs and what not.

    Now, say Dell licenses OS X. For every Dell sold, Apple gets a nice 50 bucks. They don't need to build, sell or distribute anything. They get an extra 50 bucks for every Dell sold, just for sitting in its butt and looking pretty.

    Plus, they'll always sell Macs. Maybe less, but there will always be the Apple fan segment and the "I want the best and damn the price" segment.

    I really don't think Apple would lose all that much by licensing the OS. Remember, that's basically MS's business model, and it didn't work half bad for them.

    I don't. I have a good job, a beautiful family, and this is the time of the year when I get some free time to be with my little boy. We also eat delicious food, and I get to give my kid lots of nice presents, plus a new PC and assorted gadgets for me. Also, my wife gets amazingly "in the mood" this season, so I get laid almos nightly. All in all, Chrismas is wonderful.

    Oh, and I'm an insensitive clod, thank you very much.
